The Assets and Logistics Management Department is the competent authority for the disposal of hazardous waste in laboratories across the university, and is responsible for the recycling and disposal of hazardous waste in laboratories in the university, as well as the supervision and inspection of the work.

According to "Xiamen University Laboratory Hazardous Waste Disposal Management Provisional Measures" stipulates:

1. Assets and Logistics Management Department is the competent authority for the disposal of hazardous waste in laboratories across the university, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day collection of hazardous wastes in the school, management work, and is responsible for contacting the commissioning of a professional company to unify the disposal of all types of hazardous wastes in our university. 3. Laboratory waste liquids, waste chemicals, animal carcasses and specimens of biological sources of disease and other hazardous waste generation and collection should comply with the following provisions, recycled by the units centralized storage, the establishment of a hazardous waste account, handed over to the Assets and Logistics Division of the unified disposal, is strictly prohibited indiscriminate discharge, indiscriminate dumping:

(3) Expired drugs, high concentration of waste reagents, highly toxic substances, narcotics, etc. must keep the original label intact, clear, from the original vessel containing temporary storage, not buried or poured into the collection container.

(4) toxic packaging and discarded tools must be unified storage, processing, not for other purposes or littering.

(5) radioactive waste and infectious waste must be collected and sealed, clearly labeled with its name, main components, nature and quantity, and be shielded and isolated.

(6) Teaching and research experiments produced by the normal death or execution of animal carcasses and their waste sealed in uniform plastic bags, placed in the freezer refrigerated storage. Laboratory animal carcasses shall not be discarded at will, and consumption and sale are strictly prohibited.

(7) teaching and research experiments generated by biological pathogenic specimens of waste should be collected in a timely manner, and in accordance with the categories were placed in leak-proof, anti-sharp penetration and other relevant national environmental protection requirements of the special packages, containers, and in accordance with the requirements of the national regulations and requirements to set up a clear hazardous waste warning signs and instructions.

4. Each unit shall set up a special temporary storage of hazardous waste in accordance with the safety and environmental protection requirements of the warehouse, arrange for special personnel responsible for the collection and management of hazardous waste in the unit and report the information of the management personnel to the Assets and Logistics Department. Each laboratory should be equipped with temporary collection containers or other facilities and equipment in accordance with the requirements of relevant technical specifications according to the category of hazardous waste. Hazardous waste should be strictly categorized for collection and storage, and is strictly prohibited from being mixed with domestic garbage.

(1) Specialized temporary storage of hazardous waste storage room should be kept ventilated, to avoid high temperature, sun, rain, away from fire and domestic garbage, and the establishment of appropriate protective facilities to prevent theft or accidental leakage and harm. The exterior of the warehouse should be conspicuously posted hazardous waste signs, warehouse posted hazardous waste management system, hazardous waste accident precautions and emergency plans.

(2) Each unit of hazardous waste management personnel should have a certain degree of knowledge of hazardous waste classification and collection, to develop the unit of hazardous waste collection and storage work rules, a clear workflow of each link, and is responsible for communication and coordination with the Assets and Logistics Department, and timely organization of the unit of hazardous waste removal.

(3) Each unit needs to be equipped with a certain amount of hazardous waste collection and storage containers and tools according to their own needs, and the containers need to be clearly marked with the name of the hazardous waste, quantity, type and precautions, etc.

Each laboratory to enter the laboratory for teaching, research activities, personnel must be laboratory hazardous waste collection, disposal and other knowledge and system training, supervision and implementation of the relevant provisions.

6. Units classified collection of hazardous waste does not meet the national emission standards, the school contacted a qualified professional company unified treatment. The Assets and Logistics Department is responsible for the relevant administrative procedures for approval, the use of the unit is responsible for the transfer of specific work. When handing over the hazardous wastes, each unit shall provide the name, main composition and quantity information of the hazardous wastes. Each unit shall not be privately disposed of, for those who violate the provisions of the school will be dealt with in accordance with the relevant provisions, until the legal responsibility.
