What is the basic working principle of EDI

EDI ultrapure water equipment working principle:

EDI working principle as shown in the figure.EDI membrane block will be a certain number of EDI units separated by a grid plate, forming a concentrated water chamber and fresh water chamber. The cells are also equipped with cathode/anode electrodes at both ends. Under the impetus of direct current, the anions and cations in the water flow through the fresh water chamber migrate through the anion and cation exchange membrane to the concentrated water chamber and are removed in the fresh water chamber. As follows:

The electric field makes the water molecules in the incoming water dissociate into H+ and OH- at the interface of the ion exchange resin, and continuously regenerate the anion and cation exchange resin in the fresh water chamber. The anions and cations in the ion exchange resin are attracted by the corresponding positive and negative electrodes during the regeneration process, and migrate through the cation and anion exchange resin to the direction of the corresponding ion membrane. When these ions enter the concentration chamber through the exchange membrane, H+ and OH- are recombined into water. This H + and OH - generation, annihilation and anion, cation migration is the ion exchange resin to achieve continuous regeneration mechanism.
