The size of the numbers on a radiation detector is based on the International System of Units (SI) unit of the becquerel (Bq). The becquerel is a unit that expresses the number of radioactive decays of an atomic nucleus that emits one radionuclide per second. It is named after the French physicist Henri Becquerel.
