From MoneyWeek: Which professions in the US produce the rich

By Joe Lei (from Los Angeles)

President Barack Obama has come up with a slogan that he is going to fight for the 99% of the population in the US, and for the top 1% of the income earners, then I am sorry, but President Obama is going to rob the rich to give to the poor. So who exactly are these top 1% earners in America? What kind of careers do people pursue to get into the top 1% earning rich family club?

Wealthy Americans mostly tend to **** and party

Most statistics on people's income and wealth in the US are based on households. According to the most recent records of household tax returns, in 2009 there were 1.4 million households in the top 1% of income **** in the United States. In the United States, what is the annual income to enter the top 1% income households? According to the 2009 IRS family income categorization statistics, a family's adjustable income has to be at least $343,927 for such an income to cross over into the top 1% of income households. However, a study conducted by the Tax Policy Center concluded that if the income of American families is measured comprehensively, not just from the single figure of adjustable family income, in 2009, in order to enter the ranks of the top 1% of U.S. households, the annual income must be at least $500,000 a year. And statistically, the average annual income of the top 1% of US households is $1.5 million.

The majority of the richest 1% of U.S. households belong to the **** and party or lean toward the **** and party in terms of their political affiliation, though the percentage of people who are conservative is not high. The Gallup survey found that 57 percent of the wealthiest 1 percent of Americans are either *** and party or lean *** and party, 36 percent are Democrat or lean Democrat, and 8 percent are unaffiliated. Among the remaining 99%, 44% are *** and party or lean *** and party, 47% are Democrat or lean Democrat, and 9% are unaffiliated.

It's often said that the *** and Party represent the interests of rich Americans and the Democrats represent the interests of the poor, and that seems to have some truth to it. But American society has grown to hate ideological polarization, so the politically unaffiliated middle-style population is instead growing. Among the richest 1% of the population, the politically unaffiliated centrists make up 41% of the population, **** and partisans make up 33%, and Democrats make up 26%. And among the remaining 99% of the population, the politically unaffiliated centrists make up 39%, **** and partisans 28%, and Democrats 33%.

What is the highest 1% of income

The United States early scholars based on the people's tax records to study the United States of America's top 1% of the population are engaged in what occupations, and the results show that the United States of America's top 1% of the population are not all in the Wall Street to work, but on the contrary, line of work, which one of the industry may produce a rich people. In accordance with the scholars on the 1979-2005 U.S. data analysis of the top 1% of the population, here is a look at what industries are most likely to produce high income people.

If you look at statistics by industry, the management industry is where the most rich people are, and corporate executives are most likely to make a lot of money, with 31 percent of the top 1 percent of U.S. earners in this industry. When the big boss of the company is not easy, the enterprise earns big money themselves to have the space to survive, but the rate of return is also very high. If you can't manage people, not capable of making money for the company, then don't worry, as long as you have the expertise, you can still mix into the ranks of the United States 1% of the high-income people. In this regard, doctors are in a unique position. The United States income of the top 1% of the population of 15.7% of the people are doctors, the proportion is not low. Financial management industry rich people in the United States in the top 1% of the population can only belong to the proportion of "third party", the proportion of 13.9%, far below the business executives and doctors. Business executives, doctors, and financial management of these three professions in the elite constitute the main 1% of the highest-income people in the United States, the number of people accounted for about 61% of the highest 1% of the population.

Being a lawyer in the United States is also a good career, although lawyers are plentiful, but there are still people who are willing to pan for gold in this industry. What percentage of the top 1% of earners in the US are lawyers?3%. Doctors and lawyers are two of the most popular careers in the U.S., but there are also many Americans in the technology industry, and the technology industry is a field full of innovation, and there is a way to get rich in this field. The best of the best in the U.S. computer, math, and engineering industries can also be advanced into the ranks of the 1% of the rich, of course, not everyone is so lucky, the U.S. income of the top 1% of the population in the computer, math, and engineering industries accounted for 4.6% of the incumbents.

If you don't have a genius, but you have a good father, you can be rich. The percentage of people in the U.S. who are sitting on their money through inheritance is 4.3% of the top 1% of earners. Salespeople sell goods, but good sellers are often more likely to be rich than buyers. 4.2% of the top 1% of income earners in the U.S. alone got rich selling goods. With so many poor people in blue-collar industries, is there still a chance to be in the richest 1% of Americans? Scholar's findings are a bit surprising, the top 1% of U.S. earners 4.6% of the people are working in blue-collar industries. What kind of work? The scholars didn't say, but it's not quite like a pretty girl with a big bucks kind of thing. In many countries the rich mostly from the real estate industry, the United States also have such people, but the proportion is not high, the top 1% of the population income 3.2% of people are from the real estate industry. Business managers are also easy to step into the ranks of the richest people, they do not have business executives as high-powered, but is the backbone of the enterprise. 4.6% of the top 1% of U.S. earners are managers.

Corporate presidents and managers are the most likely to be rich

In the United States, the top 1% of the family income, the situation and personal income is somewhat different, because most families are couples have income, so in the United States, the top 1% of the family members engaged in a wider range of occupations, the marriage so that some of the low-income industry employment can also enter the ranks of the top 1% of the family income. However, in the top 1% of families, the income of the head of the family is the main body, and the income of the other half has the flavor of icing on the cake.
