Medical waste rules and regulations

Legal analysis: 1. According to the types of medical wastes, medical wastes are placed in packages or containers that meet the standards of special packaging containers for medical wastes and the warning labels;

2. Before the medical waste is generated, the packaging or container of medical waste should be carefully checked to ensure that there are no defects such as damage and leakage;

3. Infectious waste, pathological waste, destructive waste, pharmaceutical waste and chemical waste cannot be collected together. A small amount of pharmaceutical waste can be mixed with infectious waste, but it should be indicated on the label;

4. The management of abandoned narcotic, psychotropic, radioactive and toxic drugs and related wastes shall be implemented in accordance with relevant laws, administrative regulations and relevant national regulations and standards;

5. Batch waste chemical reagents and waste disinfectants in chemical waste are handed over to specialized agencies for disposal;

6. When medical devices such as thermometers and sphygmomanometers containing mercury are scrapped in batches, they shall be handed over to specialized agencies for disposal;

7. High-risk wastes such as culture media, specimens, strains and virus preservation solutions of pathogens in medical wastes shall be sterilized by pressure steam or chemical disinfection at the place where they are produced, and then collected and treated as infectious wastes;

8. Infectious excreta produced by isolated patients with infectious diseases or suspected patients with infectious diseases shall be strictly disinfected in accordance with state regulations, and can only be discharged into the sewage treatment system after reaching the discharge standards prescribed by the state;

9. Medical wastes generated by isolated patients with infectious diseases or suspected patients with infectious diseases shall be packed in double layers and sealed in time;

10. Infectious waste, pathological waste and destructive waste placed in packages or containers shall not be taken out.

Legal basis: Article 3 of the Regulations on the Management of Medical Wastes These Regulations are applicable to the collection, transportation, storage, disposal, supervision and management of medical wastes.

Domestic garbage generated by patients with infectious diseases or suspected patients with infectious diseases admitted by medical and health institutions shall be managed and disposed of according to medical wastes.

The management of narcotic drugs, psychotropic drugs, radioactive drugs, toxic drugs and related wastes abandoned by medical and health institutions shall be implemented in accordance with relevant laws, administrative regulations and relevant state regulations and standards.
