Intussusception is harmful to baby's health. How to pay attention to prevention?

On March 27th, a child with intussusception was admitted to the pediatric surgery department of a hospital. Dr. Chen, a pediatric surgeon in this hospital, said: Intussusception is a common disease in infant emergencies. That is, one part of the intestine is sleeved on another part of the intestine. If it is not immediately reset, it may lead to intestinal necrosis due to insufficient arterial blood supply. If not treated in time, it may be serious or life-threatening.

Intussusception is mainly manifested as paroxysmal crying, abdominal mass, bloody stool and other symptoms, which are more common in infants under 2 years old, especially in children aged 4- 10 months. According to Dr. Chen, air enema can be used in the early stage, and the success rate is over 95%. In severe cases, open surgery is needed, and even necrotic intestines need to be removed.

What is intussusception?

Intussusception refers to the insertion of a section of intestinal tube into the intestinal cavity connected with it, which leads to the obstacle of intestinal contents passing through. Intussusception accounts for 15% ~ 20% of intestinal obstruction. There are major types and minor types. Primary intussusception mostly occurs in infants, while secondary intussusception is more common in adults. The vast majority of intussusception is caused by the insertion of the proximal intestine into the distal intestine, and the reverse intussusception is rare, accounting for less than 10% of the total cases.

What are the symptoms of intussusception?

1. The healthy baby suddenly broke out with intermittent crying and abdominal pain, turned pale and refused to suck.

2. Repeated vomiting, the vomit is milk at first, and later it may contain green bile or smelly' dung water'.

3. bloody stools often appear after 6-8 hours of onset. Typical intussusception feces are jam-like loose stools.

4. If you check carefully, you can often feel the sausage-like lump in the upper abdomen, which is the intestinal segment where intussusception occurs.

How to prevent intussusception

1. Diarrhea should be avoided, especially in autumn, and parents should be highly alert to the occurrence of this disease.

2. Pay attention to scientific feeding, don't be too hungry, change food at will, add complementary food step by step, and don't be too hasty.

3. Pay attention to climate change, increase or decrease clothes at any time, and avoid all kinds of bad factors that are easy to induce intestinal peristalsis.

How to treat intussusception

1. Intussusception in children is mostly primary and can be reduced by air or barium enema. However, it is contraindicated for those suspected of intestinal necrosis.

2. Intestinal necrosis cannot be reduced or suspected by enema, or surgical treatment of secondary intussusception is feasible. The specific surgical method should be decided according to the exploration situation. Surgical reduction was performed for those without intestinal necrosis; When it is difficult, cut the neck of the outer sheath to restore it, and then repair the intestinal wall; For patients with necrosis or other organic diseases, intestinal resection and anastomosis or colostomy are feasible.
