Rambler S2000MKII maintains almost the same appearance as S 1000. When people see the name S2000MKII, it seems to be more sensitive than when they see S 1000, because many users compare S2000MKII with the old S2000. Compared with the square and multi-layer coated S2000, the S2000MKII is naturally quite different in style. However, compared with S 1000, the rambler has been upgraded in appearance configuration.
The boards on both sides of S2000MKII are solid wood with a thickness of 18mm, which naturally increases the cost compared with the compressed board of S 1000. From the actual impression, the grain and texture of solid wood are still slightly better than S 1000. Compared with S 1000, S2000MKII also improved four foot pads at the bottom of the speaker, which slightly improved the aesthetics and buffering function. In order to improve the recognition, the color of the protective screen on the front of the S2000MKII speaker is also slightly different from that of S 1000.
Seen from the back of the speaker, the function of S2000MKII has not changed much, and it supports two sets of RCA analog signal input. Surprisingly, however, the official indicators show that the sensitivity of one set of inputs is 700mV, while that of the other is 500mV, while that of S 1000 and R2000DB is 900mV/700mV respectively.
Simply put, this voltage value marked by input sensitivity is the theoretical power of the power amplifier at this voltage. As a digital power amplifier speaker, ADC link is needed, and the problem of ADC signal overflow when the input signal voltage is too high should be considered. The voltage of 700mV [the official indicator has a margin of 50mV] is close to 0dBm[0dBu] of 0.775Vrms, so the general sound card input will not encounter problems. However, in many high-end decoder devices, the voltage will be used to amplify the output, reaching a voltage above 2Vrms, and S2000MKII may encounter the problem of input signal overflow. If the output voltage of your decoder or audio source is high and there is no previous level control, it will be embarrassing.
S2000MKII supports optical fiber and coaxial input. This set of inputs can finally support 24-bit/192kHz signals. In fact, the internal chip has not changed, but I don't know why it can't be supported on the previous R2000DB and S 1000. Bluetooth input, like S 1000, uses CSR8645 chip, which can support APT-X coding. APT-X coding from the products we have used, it can obviously improve the resolution better than without APT-X, but the bottleneck of Bluetooth compared with wired input is still very big.
