Social Practice of College Students in Summer: Exploring Public Mental Health in Post-epidemic Period

For a college student, participating in social practice is a necessary choice to become a responsible youth in the new era. This summer vacation, I joined the "Guangzong Yaozu" team of the School of Economics of Anhui University of Finance to carry out social practice for the public's mental health in the later period of the epidemic, to help communities or towns publicize the mental health protection in the later period of the epidemic prevention and control, and to help the public better cope with the epidemic with a positive, healthy, rational and peaceful attitude.

2020 is an extraordinary year, and the fierce COVID-19 epidemic makes this year a special node. Now it has entered the post-epidemic period, and the epidemic situation in COVID-19 has been generally controlled, but there are still intermittent small-scale outbreaks and epidemics. In this case, people's mental health is still a problem that cannot be ignored. Our social practice this summer is based on this.

This social practice is a challenge for our team. Everyone lacks relevant experience, and because they are not in the same place, they cannot conduct field research together. But we did our best to complete this social practice. We have experienced a lot and gained a lot at the same time:

1. Unity and cohesion, division of labor and cooperation

A social practice has many tasks, from preliminary preparation to formal development, and then to final summary. It is precisely because of the unity and cohesion of our team members and the division of labor and cooperation that we can successfully complete all the work and social practice. When making the questionnaire, everyone expressed their opinions and discussed actively, which ensured the scientific and theoretical nature of the questionnaire. When writing a practice report, the team leader assigns tasks well, and the team members cooperate with each other to perform their duties with high speed and high quality.

2. Close to the society and understand the people's feelings

What you get on paper is so shallow that you never know what you have to do. Social practice has built a bridge between school and society. Through this bridge, our students can get close to the society and have a certain understanding of the society, which promotes the cultivation of our strong sense of social responsibility. It is because of this social practice, close observation, personal experience and serious thinking that I can understand that different people have different psychological conditions when facing the COVID-19 epidemic. The reason why the younger generation represented by us can maintain a good attitude is because they are proficient in using the Internet, know more about external channels and know more about the process of fighting the epidemic. However, for some elderly people, their living conditions are relatively closed, and they don't know enough about the epidemic situation in COVID-19. Unknown means uncertainty and fear. Faced with the unknown, they will inevitably have negative emotions and pessimistic mentality. But when our team members carried out relevant publicity, their frowning brows relaxed and their mood became clear to the naked eye. I think this is the purpose and significance of our practice.

3. Seriously reflect and accumulate diligently.

In this activity, our team still has many shortcomings: insufficient experience, insufficient practice and insufficient publicity. We will be diligent in reflection and accumulation. This social practice is our precious wealth, which will lay a solid foundation for our future practice.

This practical activity has enriched our practical experience and improved our team cooperation potential, which is of far-reaching significance to us and will be an indelible memory!
