Professional characteristics of Shanghai Institute of Hypertension

Shanghai Key Laboratory of Vascular Biology was established, focusing on the identification of early markers of cardiovascular diseases, the pathophysiology and molecular mechanism of cardiovascular remodeling, and the research of new targets of drugs to intervene cardiovascular diseases. The research group is also a member of the State Key Laboratory of Medical Genomics, the Institute of Health Sciences of Shanghai Institute of Life Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Sino-French Center for Life Sciences and Genome Research. In recent ten years, he has undertaken several major national projects, built a genetic database of hypertension with a sample size of over 10,000 cases, and won the first prize of China Medical Science and Technology. The Institute has established epidemiological research bases in Jingning She Autonomous County of Zhejiang Province and the suburbs of this city to carry out genetic epidemiological research. The results of population research in Jingning attracted the attention of international peers, and the research group entered the sixth and seventh framework projects of the European Union. At present, the Institute has carried out community prevention and treatment model research on hypertension in six communities in Shanghai.
