What if the thermometer is broken? ! ! An article teaches you all the postures.

In the last issue, we talked about the correct posture and several special temperature curves for measuring body temperature. Students who can't remember clearly poke here to review.

I believe that when many Xiong Haizi was naughty as a child, or when the novice mother was inexperienced, it was more or less like this. Several times, she couldn't hold the slender thermometer and fell to the ground and broke it.

So in this issue, let's talk about a seemingly insignificant little thing that often happens in life-what if the thermometer is broken?

In a broken moment, you will find many round and shiny "small water droplets" flowing out of the thin body of the thermometer, and curious babies may pick them up by hand. Surprisingly, however, the "small water droplets" quickly rolled into the cracks in the ground, just like being smeared invisibly, and disappeared instantly. ▼

So, what is this magical "small water drop"?

The answer is: Mercury!

What is Mercury?

It is colorless and tasteless, and it is the only metal that is liquid at room temperature. It is highly mobile, so it is also commonly known as "Mercury".

Seeing this, some people may be dismissive: cut, what should I do with strong liquidity? Is it not metal? What harm can it do? Can it still endanger the rope life?

Don't worry, listen to me slowly.

When mercury overflows from a liquid state, it is easy to evaporate and form a vapor state (just like water becomes vapor). Every time the temperature rises 10 degree, the evaporation rate increases by 1.2- 1.5 times.

According to national standards, the content of mercury vapor in the air >: 0.0 1 mg/m 3 may be harmful to health, and if a thermometer is broken, assuming that all the mercury contained in it evaporates, the mercury concentration in a room with a height of 3 meters of 15 square meter can reach 22.2 mg/m 3, which is 220 times the safety limit! ! ! Yes, in order to calculate correctly, I calculated it with a calculator so as not to admit that I was out of my mind. )

Because of its low viscosity and high fluidity, mercury is easy to form "mercury beads", that is, the "small water droplets" we mentioned above, which cannot be drilled into every corner. If it is not collected in time, it will volatilize to form mercury vapor.

Volatile mercury vapor invades human body from respiratory tract, skin and digestive tract. Inhalation of high concentration mercury vapor in a short time may cause headache, fatigue and fever, nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal abdominal pain and diarrhea, acute interstitial pneumonia (cough, chest pain, dyspnea, etc.). ) and respiratory bronchiolitis, paralysis of the nervous system, and even insanity.

So, mercury is so toxic, should we just let it go and do nothing?

Of course not.

So what is the correct way to do after the thermometer is broken?

First of all, of course, it is to open the window for ventilation, try to reduce the concentration of mercury in the air and avoid inhaling too much toxic vapor.

Secondly, there are these more troublesome methods that can be adopted:

Smart students may have noticed some problems. That is, although there are many methods, they are useless!

Ordinary families, some don't even have a first aid kit, how can they take out a bottle of iodine at any time? Or a small piece of ferric chloride? Weighing before configuration? Or take out a pack of sulfur powder?

To tell the truth, my family doesn't have anything so powerful.

So, even without these things to deal with mercury, what can we do?

Don't! ! !

We can eliminate this dangerous situation from the source.

Classmate, what about the electronic thermometer? ▼

In addition to mercury thermometers that are often seen in life, there are actually two other thermometers available on the market at present, namely, electronic thermometers and non-contact infrared thermometers.

Some students may intuitively feel that the results measured by electronic thermometers are definitely inaccurate. Let's see what the facts are.

Many studies show that there is no statistical difference between mercury thermometer and electronic thermometer. In other words, electronic thermometers are no different from traditional thermometers in measurement accuracy.

One of the research results found that the difference between infrared thermometer and the other two measurement methods was statistically significant, and the measured value of infrared thermometer was low.

But it is puzzling that there are other studies that the difference between infrared thermometer and mercury thermometer is not statistically significant. In other words, the conclusion is completely contrary to the above research, so I won't make a conclusion here.

Although the function of infrared thermometer is not clear for the time being, it is certain that the temperature measured by electronic thermometer is no different from that measured by mercury thermometer.

Therefore, the facts tell us that the electronic thermometer can completely replace the traditional thermometer, even better than the traditional thermometer.

Because from the point of view of environmental pollution, mercury will pollute the environment, and electronic thermometers are harmless. And you have no idea what Xiong Haizi will do, such as putting a shiny mercury thermometer in his mouth! It's terrible. Stop it. If you don't die, you won't die. Why do you want to try?

No one is perfect, and neither is a thermometer.

I've been thinking about the shortcomings of electronic thermometers for a long time.

That will only be expensive.

No, on second thought, expensive is not its shortcoming, but ours.

So make money in Sao nian, or you won't be able to use electronic thermometers in the future, but you should always have sulfur powder (manual doge) at home.
