The standard weight method is calculated by subtracting 105 from the height (cm). Body mass index method, body mass index (BMI) = weight (kg)/height (m) squared. There are three standards for body mass index: world obesity standard, Asian obesity standard and China obesity standard.
First, overweight.
1, standard weight method:10-more than 20% of the standard weight is overweight;
2. Body mass index method: According to the standards of the World Health Organization, a body mass index of 25-29.9 is considered overweight. According to Asian standards, a body mass index of 23-24.9 is considered overweight. According to China standards, a BMI of 24.0-27.9 is considered overweight.
Second, obesity.
1, standard weight method: obesity exceeds standard weight by more than 20%;
2. Body mass index method: According to World Health Organization standards, obesity is defined as a body mass index greater than or equal to 30. According to Asian standards, obesity is defined as a body mass index greater than or equal to 25. According to China's standards, obesity is defined as a body mass index greater than or equal to 28;
3. Waist-hip circumference: Because most people in China are abdominal obese, even if the body mass index is normal or low, as long as the waist circumference of men is greater than or equal to 85cm and that of women is greater than or equal to 80cm, or the waist-hip ratio of men is greater than 0.9 and that of women is greater than 0.85, they are obese.
The above criteria for judging overweight and obesity are applicable to most normal healthy adults, and the body mass index is not applicable to the elderly, athletes, pregnant women, people who are too short, etc. Overweight and obese people can reach the standard through a healthy diet and reasonable exercise, such as eating less fried food and eating more whole grains rich in dietary fiber. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables and choose aerobic exercise such as yoga and jogging.
