Fetal health
Lying on your back will compress the inferior vena cava, reduce the blood flow to the heart and placenta, and affect the absorption of oxygen and nutrition by the fetus.
Lower limb health
Lying on your back will lead to the increase of venous pressure in lower limbs, rectum and vulva, and increase the risk of varicose veins, hemorrhoids and edema in lower limbs.
Urinary health
Lying on your back can also cause the uterus to compress the ureter, the renal pelvis to expand passively, and the urine to stay, causing edema.
Prevention of pregnancy-induced hypertension
Lying on the side can reduce diastolic blood pressure, and lying on the left side for 4 hours during the day is helpful to prevent and treat pregnancy-induced hypertension.
Promote smooth blood flow
During pregnancy, the uterus tends to turn right, and lying on the left side can reset blood vessels and promote smooth blood flow.
Correct prone position
For the sake of maternal and infant health, pregnant women should master the correct lying posture, especially in the middle and late stages.
