What effect does sunlight have on human health and growth and development?
Pterygium, commonly known as "pterygium crawling to the eye", "wing" and "feather", is a small insect wing lesion that grows from the sclera (white part) of the eyeball to the cornea (transparent part). When the lesion blocks the pupil, it can affect vision, which is more common in fishermen and farmers who work outdoors for many years. The etiology of pterygium is very complicated. Experts believe that the occurrence of pterygium may be due to ultraviolet damage to the anterior elastic layer of cornea, which makes the subconjunctival connective tissue proliferate and forms fibrous vascular tissue to invade the center of cornea.
