As a result of entering high school, there are more and more homework, heavier learning burden and more time. So, will this affect the sleep of middle school students? With questions, we started the research study.
Studying the sleep situation of middle school students will help us to know ourselves better, adjust the time allocation, improve ourselves and improve our academic performance.
research project
The plan starts from two aspects: 1. Consult experts to find documents. Find relevant information, such as the role of sleep, the negative effects of sleep, etc. 2. Questionnaire survey. Mainly investigate students' usual sleep habits.
(1) Information: Sleep has seven benefits.
1 Eliminate fatigue and restore physical strength: Sleep is the main way to eliminate physical fatigue. Because of the function of gastrointestinal tract and its related organs in sleep, human energy substances are synthesized and manufactured for activities. In addition, due to the decrease of body temperature, heart rate, blood pressure, respiration and some endocrine, the basal metabolic rate is reduced, so that physical strength can be restored.
2 protect the brain and restore energy: people who lack sleep are irritable, excited or listless, inattentive, and memory loss. Long-term lack of sleep can lead to hallucinations. People who get enough sleep are energetic, quick-thinking and efficient. This is because the oxygen consumption of the brain is greatly reduced during sleep, which is beneficial to the energy storage of brain cells. So sleep is good for protecting the brain and improving brain power.
3. Enhance immunity and restore the body: Under normal circumstances, the human body can produce antibodies against various invasive antigen substances and remove them through immune reaction to protect human health. Sleep can enhance the body's ability to produce antibodies, thus enhancing the body's resistance; At the same time, sleep can also accelerate the self-healing of various tissues and organs. In modern medicine, sleep is often used as a treatment to help patients through the most painful period, which is conducive to the rehabilitation of diseases.
4 Promote growth and development: Sleep is closely related to children's growth and development. The baby's brain continues to develop for a long time after birth, and it is inseparable from sleep; And children grow faster during sleep, because plasma growth hormone can maintain a high level for several hours during sleep. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that children get enough sleep and ensure their growth and development.
5. Delay aging and promote longevity: In recent years, many survey data show that healthy and long-lived elderly people have good and normal sleep. Human life is like a burning flame. Regular burning makes life last. If it burns up and down, it will shorten the time and make people die young. Sleep time is like minimal flame burning, so it can delay aging and ensure longevity.
6 Protecting people's mental health: Sleep is very important for protecting people's mental health and maintaining normal psychological activities. Because of poor sleep for a short time, there will be inattention, and after a long time, it will cause abnormal situations such as unreasonable thinking.
7 Conducive to skin beauty: During sleep, the capillary circulation of the skin increases, and its secretion and clearance process are strengthened, which accelerates skin regeneration, so sleep is conducive to skin beauty.
There are also some negative effects.
1. Lack of sleep will lead to poor learning spirit, poor memory, lower learning efficiency, higher homework error rate, and easy to doze off in class.
2. After the human body falls asleep 1 hour, the pineal gland of the brain begins to secrete hormones to stimulate human growth. If you don't sleep well, the child is likely to grow taller.
3. When people suffer from insomnia, the sympathetic nerve is always in a state of excitement, and there will be symptoms of rapid heartbeat and anxiety. These have an impact on digestion and mood, and people will be very upset and affect their judgment.
4. Long-term lack of sleep will also lead to cerebral cortex dysfunction, neurasthenia and some neurosis diseases, which will seriously affect students' physical and mental health.

Analysis:
Sleep time varies from person to person, but generally speaking, everyone needs an average of 8 hours of sleep every day. This is especially true for middle school students.
However, if you don't get enough sleep, you will accumulate so-called sleep debt. Even if you only sleep 1 hour every day for 8 consecutive days, you will still feel as sleepy as staying up late.
According to experts, people who are moderately alert during the day need enough sleep at night to maintain this state. If we don't get enough rest, we will owe sleep debt and accumulate it over time. Due to the stimulation of human biological clock and external environment, we may not realize that we are seriously short of sleep. To some extent, we owe so much sleep debt that we can't resist it. Even when there is potential danger, we can still fall asleep.
The results show that 89% of the students don't have enough sleep time, of which 7 1.9% sleep time is far below the reasonable sleep time of teenagers, so that 87% of the students are not satisfied with their current sleep. Even though 78% students have the habit of taking a nap, 88% students are still in poor spirits in class in the afternoon. ......
There are various indications that lack of sleep among middle school students has become a common problem and has certain influence.
Suggestion:
school
1 You can add some special lectures on the importance of sleep to let teachers and students know its importance.
Shorten some unnecessary class time, postpone a certain class time, and let teachers and students increase the corresponding sleep time.
teacher
1 Fully understand the importance of sleep, so that students can correctly understand sleep.
2. Reduce the amount of homework appropriately and reduce the burden on students.
Children's parents
Don't put too much pressure on children, urge and help them save time.
student
1 Accept the education of teachers and parents with an open mind, and don't stay up late for meaningless things, such as playing computer games, watching TV and reading novels.
Establish a correct view of sleep and time, understand sleep correctly, don't waste too much time on sleep, and don't reduce sleep time too much. We should arrange our sleep time reasonably.
Summary:
The above is our shallow research and analysis of middle school students' sleep problems. At the same time, we also expounded our own humble opinion on the solution of these problems. However, the suggestions vary from person to person, and students should still seek the best solution according to themselves. I hope these methods are helpful to students, and I sincerely hope that students have a healthy attitude to face their study life. Please point out shortcomings or mistakes! thank you
