The Song of Songs in Small Tunes - When is the Bright Moon
Song Dynasty: Su Shi
Mid-Autumn Festival in the year of the Cth Century, I was drunk till the end of the day, and I composed this piece, and I also remembered Ziyu.
When will the bright moon come? I'm not sure when the moon is going to come out.
I don't know what year it is in the palace in the sky.
I want to go home on the wind, but I'm afraid that the jeweled buildings are too high to be cold.
It's not like I'm on earth, but it's like I'm in the world.
They are the most beautiful and the most beautiful of all, and they are the most beautiful of all.
There should be no hate, why do we have to go back to the other time?
There is no such thing as a good time, and there is no such thing as a good time.
But I wish you a long life, and a thousand miles of **** Canyuan Juan.
Translation:
On the Mid-Autumn Festival in the year of Bengchen (1076 A.D.), I drank happily until dawn, got drunk, and wrote this lyric, while thinking of my younger brother Su Zhe.
From whence came the bright moon? I hold a glass of wine and ask the sky from afar. I don't know what year it is tonight in the palace in the sky. I want to go back to the sky with the wind to have a look, but I worry that the buildings made of beautiful jade are too high for me to withstand the cold. Get up and dance to play and enjoy the moonlight under the shadow of their own clear, the moon palace where compared to on earth.
The moon turned over the vermilion pavilion and hung low in the window, shining on itself without sleep. The moon should not have any grudge against people, but why is it always round when people are leaving? The fact is that there is a change in people's lives and a change in the moon, and this is something that has been difficult to accomplish since the beginning of time.
I hope people can stay together for a long time and enjoy the beautiful moon together even if they are thousands of miles apart.

Writing Background:
This poem was composed by the author when he was in Mizhou during the Mid-Autumn Festival in the ninth year of Xining of Emperor Shenzong of the Song Dynasty (1076 A.D.). Su Shi had asked to be transferred to an official position closer to Su Zhe, and in the seventh year of Xining (1074 A.D.) Su Shi was transferred to Mizhou.
After arriving in Mizhou, this wish remained unfulfilled. On the mid-autumn day of 1076 AD, the poet was faced with a bright moon, and his heart fluttered, so he took advantage of the wine and wrote this famous piece.
This is one of Su's masterpieces. From the point of view of artistic achievement, it is a strange conception, unique, extremely rich in romanticism, is recognized as the Mid-Autumn Festival in the words of the masterpiece. In terms of performance, the first half of the word is written vertically and the second half horizontally. The first half of the word is written longitudinally, and the second half is narrated horizontally.
The first half of the poem is an update of the myths of the past generations, and a transmutation of the immortal poems of the Wei, Jin, and the Six Dynasties. The second half of the poem is purely in white, with the human and the moon as well. It is called a deduction of physics, but in fact it is an explanation of human affairs. The strokes are intricate and swaying. In terms of layout, the first piece rises up in the air, and the place where it enters seems to be virtual; the next piece has waves cascading over one another, and returns to the virtual and turns to the real. In the end, it is a combination of the real and the imaginary, and it ends with a twist.
The whole word set the scene clear and majestic, to the moon as the center of the expression of the wandering fairy "return" and straight dance "on earth", away from the desire to enter the world and the contradictions and confusion, as well as openness and self-sufficiency, the life of a long time optimistic and beautiful wish, very rich in philosophy and human feelings. This is a very philosophical and humane work. It is far-reaching in its intention, novel in its conception, and fresh and picturesque in its mood.
Finally, it is a natural expression of the lyricist's feelings. It is a natural outpouring of the lyricist's feelings. It is both elegant and beautiful, and has a high aesthetic value. The whole of this poem is full of good sentences, typically reflecting the style of Su's words, which are clear, majestic and open-minded.
