"Jigong" is unique in its choice of material, and instead of falling into the usual themes of wind, flower, snow and moon and princes and noblemen, it mines a familiar folk tale character from classic literature. The use of movement is also rare in the twisting, tilting, rounding, and curving of classical Chinese dance, but from the character's external image characteristics to experience the inner emotions and changes in destiny, to serve the dramatization of the character, and to organically link literature and dance.
Jigong (1148-1209), a Han Chinese, Jigong's original name was Li Xiuyuan, a Taoist monk during the Southern Song Dynasty, and a man from Yongning Village, Tiantai County, Zhejiang Province, who was later called Jigong, the Living Buddha.
