Dance Psychotherapy

? 2020 Spring Festival vacation because of the impact of the epidemic seems unusually long, had planned to come to the Spring Festival after a New Year's dance to lead the partners to start a year of life through the body dance, because of the epidemic dance salon could not be carried out as scheduled. I can't help but miss those dancing days. The reason why I am fond of dancing is because I am a beneficiary of dancing, from a bystander who did not dare to go on the dance floor at the beginning, to a leader who can lead the dance salon and dance by the canal every morning. Dance therapy is a type of expressive arts therapy, defined in the UK as "a psychotherapy that engages people creatively in the therapeutic process through the therapeutic use of movement and dance to prompt their emotional, cognitive, physical and social integration." Psychologists tell us that our psyche and our body react to and influence each other, and that often when you have physical problems, the root cause is your emotional and psychological problems, and that the unity of mind and body is the true health, so the interesting thing about the British definition of dance therapy is that it is strictly limited to the realm of psychotherapy.

While there are millions of different psychotherapeutic techniques, each with its own wonders, dance therapy does not require any props, and if it does, it is our very intelligent bodies. Dance does not require any dance foundation, no fixed movement requirements, no gender, age and other restrictions, as long as you are willing to follow the body's guidance by feeling to wherever you want to go. Dance and dance are fundamentally different, dance has fixed movements and requirements, a certain movement needs to be done, needs to be beautiful, needs to make the viewer look good, dance is for others to dance; while dance does not need anything, body follows the heart, body and mind unity, how comfortable how to dance, dance is for themselves. The body is very intelligent, our body can "talk", the use of physical form so that a variety of emotions coexist in the movement without conflict, our language may lie, but our body does not. The body doesn't lie. The body can hold information about important object relationships, such as childhood relationships with significant others, through the development of physical symptoms. Through this process of dance therapy, our body explodes with its innate energy, helping us to recognize the source of our problems and find solutions to them. The traumas and emotions that have affected our modern life will be touched and awakened in the dance of the body, and the leader will lead us to see the trauma and then describe it in words (psychologically known as externalization of the mind), to talk to the person who has caused the trauma, to shout in anger, to wrestle, to fight back, to release our emotions to the fullest extent, and to release all the emotions that we have been repressing all the time, and to see what the trauma has brought to us. What has the trauma done for us? What growth have we gained from the trauma? Slowly you can heal that trauma, and those cognitive, emotional, behavioral problems caused by trauma will not be healed.

? The epidemic will soon be over, and spring will soon be here, so let's go out into the field, into the garden, into nature to link with nature, to draw on nature's energy, to stretch our bodies between heaven and earth, and to meet our better selves in the midst of the dance.
