Geological structure
Xishuangbanna spans two fold systems: Tanggula-Changdu-Lanping-Simao and Gongshan-Tengchong, and is bounded by the Lancangjiang Fault as the dividing line. The former is the Banpo complex anticline and the Dehua complex syncline, and the latter occupies the southeastern end of the Lincang-Menghai fold system.
The Banpo complex anticline is mainly composed of Mesozoic flysch-like structures, medium-acidic, and medium-basic volcanic structures accompanied by molasse structures. Red structures are sporadically exposed, and Cenozoic molasse structures are exposed sporadically. Stone construction is not integrated on it. In Dehua complex syncline, Mesozoic red structures are distributed over a large area, some of which are molasse structures, carbonate structures and coal-bearing debris structures. At the southeast end of the Lincang-Menghai fold, the Proterozoic Lancang Group and Damenglong metamorphic rocks are exposed, and the Variscan-Indosinian Menghai granite batholith occupies a large space.
