The original singer of My Motherland is Guo Lanying.
"My Motherland" is a song sung by Guo Lanying and the chorus of the China Opera and Dance Theater, recorded in 1959. It was included in the album Selected Solos of Famous Singer Guo Lanying, released on January 1, 1984 by China Record Group Corporation. The song is also an interlude of the movie "Shangganling".
In 1956, Shamong asked Liu Chih to compose the song "My Motherland". In order to make people love this song, Liu Chieh investigated and studied the songs that people liked to sing from 1949 to 1955, selected ten songs from them and listened to them over and over again, and finally found the half-sentence at the beginning of My Motherland from the first line of one of the songs, "Lugou Q&A". When Liu Ch'iu was working at the Changchun Film Studio's Little White House, he posted a note saying "Liu Ch'iu is dead" on the door in order to avoid interference from the outside world.
Song Lyrics:
The waves of a big river are wide, and the wind blows the rice flowers on both sides of the river
My family lives on the bank, and I'm used to listening to the boatman's horn
I'm used to the white sails on the boat, and the waves of a big river are wide
The wind blows the rice flowers on both sides of the river, and I'm used to listening to the boatman's horn
The boatman's horn, and the white sails on the boat are used to listening to the boatman's horn. I'm used to hearing the boatman's call and seeing the white sails on the boat
This is my beautiful country, where I grew up
There are beautiful scenery everywhere in this vast land
Girls are like flowers, and boys have big hearts
To open up new horizons, they awakened the sleepy mountains
The river changed its shape, and this is the hero's country. The motherland
It is the place where I grew up, in this ancient land
There is youthful strength everywhere, good mountains and good water
All the roads are wide and smooth, and there is good wine for friends
If that jackal comes, it will be greeted with a hunting rifle
It is the mighty motherland, it is the place where I grew up
In this warm land, the sunshine of peace is everywhere
