In the elementary school, sentence reduction is a kind of common language basic questions.
To reduce a sentence is to remove the determiner, the gerund, the complement and so on "branches and leaves", to keep the subject, the predicate, the object and so on "main". Specifically, "...'s" tends to act as the definite article, "...ground" tends to act as the gerund, "get..." tends to act as the complement. " tends to act as a complement. In contractions, "...of", "...ground", and "got..." are all "branches" and should all be deleted. The sentences are as follows:
1 ( )'s + noun or pronoun + [ ]ground + verb + ( )'s + noun or pronoun
2 ( )'s + noun or pronoun + verb + get < >
E.g. The morning sunlight softly caresses the endless land. To reduce the sentence, remove "early morning", "softly", and "endless", and the remaining stem is "The sunlight caressed the land. "
When reducing a sentence, the word "put" should be retained in the reduced sentence, and the word "be" should be retained in the reduced sentence. For example, the beautiful amber was swept to the shore by the rough sea. The reduced sentence should read: Amber was swept to the shore by the sea.
When reducing a sentence, the words "着, 了, 过" should be retained after the predicate.
In the reduction of sentences, we should not be hard to set the method of reduction, but on the basis of understanding the original meaning of the sentence, sensible and reasonable to reduce the sentence. Example: The cute little actor almost slipped on the stage. If you don't carefully understand the original meaning of the sentence, it may be reduced to "the little actor slipped", while the original meaning of the sentence is "almost" slipped, not really "slipped". In this case, "almost" is a modifier, but it can't be removed, so the correct contraction for the example sentence would be: The actor almost slipped.
In reduced sentences, some sentences have double predicates, which should be retained in reduced sentences. For example, old people like to go fishing in the shade of the trees by the lake. Many students reduce this sentence to "old people like to fish." or "Old people go fishing." Both of these sentences do not properly understand the original meaning of the sentence and ignore the double predicate. The correct contraction should be: old people like to go fishing.
