Before measuring the temperature, dry the armpit with a dry towel, and then put the mercury end of the thermometer into the armpit without exposure. Parents should hold the thermometer by hand, let the child bend his arm over his chest, and take it out after measuring his temperature for 7- 10 minutes. It takes 30 minutes to measure after bathing. Be careful not to put underwear or sheets between the thermometer and the armpit skin to ensure its accuracy. Normal armpit temperature is generally 36-37 degrees Celsius on average.
2. Anal measurement.
When measuring in the anus, choose the anus thermometer, first lubricate the mercury end of the thermometer with liquid paraffin or grease (soapy water can also be used), and then slowly insert the mercury end of the thermometer into the anus for 3-4.5cm (1.5cm for infants). Parents should hold the upper end of the thermometer by hand to prevent it from slipping or breaking. After 3-5 minutes, take it out and wipe it with gauze or soft toilet paper to read the degree. The normal range of anal temperature is generally 36.8-37.8 degrees Celsius.
3. Intraoral measurement.
Methods Put the mercury end of the oral surface obliquely under the child's tongue, tell the child to shut up (don't bite with his teeth), breathe through his nose, take it out after 3 minutes, wipe it and read the degree. The normal oral temperature of adults is between 36 and 37 degrees Celsius, and that of children can be 0.5 degrees Celsius higher.
