Moderator: Hello, audience friends! This is CCTV's live program "The Road to Health". Today we are going to talk about stomachache.
Narrator: The stomach is the main organ for digesting food and absorbing nutrition. Stomach plays an important role in our healthy growth and happy life. However, with the acceleration of work rhythm and the increase of psychological pressure, many people may be out of breath against their stomachs. What will happen if there is a problem?
Patient: It's just that my stomach sometimes feels uncomfortable and painful.
Patient: If you eat too much, it will swell. If you eat less, you will be hungry and want to vomit.
Patient: Sometimes it hurts when you are hungry.
Narrator: Of the 52 patients we interviewed, about 60% have experienced bloating and stomachache, and the incidence of stomach diseases tends to be younger.
Patient: I have no special treatment either.
Patient: It's no use taking medicine, but the symptoms are still the same.
Patient: I'll be fine after taking a little medicine. I have another attack every two days.
Moderator: Why can stomach diseases be cured for a long time?
Liu: Patients with stomachache are very common. Stomach pain is a symptom, which can occur in many digestive tract diseases, such as duodenal ulcer, gastric ulcer, chronic superficial gastritis, atrophic gastritis and so on. A lasting stomachache generally refers to a chronic stomachache. Medically, stomach pain that lasts for more than three months is called chronic stomach pain. There are two reasons why stomachache can't be cured for a long time. One reason is that the stomach is a digestive organ and food is digested and absorbed by the stomach every day. My stomach is heavily burdened and I have been working non-stop. The second reason is related to whether our treatment is appropriate. Traditional Chinese medicine emphasizes syndrome differentiation and treatment, and the history of stomach pain and the nature of pain are very different. We must treat patients according to their symptoms and characteristics.
Moderator: What are the characteristics of Chinese medicine in treating chronic stomach diseases?
Bai Ye: TCM adopts the method of syndrome differentiation, which is a unique theoretical system of TCM. The symptoms of patients are collected through four diagnoses: looking, smelling, asking and pulse, and the syndrome types are distinguished by combining the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, so as to adopt different treatment methods.
Moderator: Next, we know a patient, Lao Wang:

Bai Ye: The diagnosis of stomach trouble is also very important, because many diseases, such as coronary heart disease and myocardial infarction, will also show epigastric pain, but this kind of pain is often severe, and there will be chest tightness, palpitation and other symptoms, which can be diagnosed by ECG examination. In addition, it is not easy to distinguish floating pain and benign stomachache caused by gastric cancer, especially early gastric cancer. Attention should be paid to the following situations: first, the law of pain has changed greatly; second, the pain has worsened; third, weight loss and bloody stool. At this time, patients should pay attention to regular gastroscopy and reexamination to make a clear diagnosis.
