Why did the arrow lotus graft?

Because the sword lotus is an epiphyte with underdeveloped roots, grafting is more conducive to growth. At the same time, grafting is also to make the flowers look better when the arrow lotus droops.

There are two ways to breed lotus, one is cutting propagation, and the other is grafting propagation.

cutting

It is best to do it in March-April every year. Firstly, a healthy flat stem with the length of 10 cm is used as a cutting, which is dried for 2 ~ 3 days, and then inserted into wet sand or vermiculite, with the cutting depth of 1/3 and the temperature of 10 ~ 15℃. Spray them with water often, and they can usually take root and plant in a month.

propagation by grafting

It should be carried out at 25℃. The rhizome can be cactus. Cut a wedge-shaped opening in the wood of the rootstock with a knife, then take healthy lotus stems with a length of 6-8 cm as scions, cut one knife on both sides of the scion to expose the pith of the stem to make it wedge-shaped, then insert it into the crack of the rootstock, tie it tightly with hemp skin and maintain it in a cool place. 10 days or so, the grafted parts can grow together, and the hemp skin is removed for normal maintenance.

Grafting propagation grows faster than cutting propagation, so many people use grafting propagation.
