Its predecessor was the Chinese Journal of Ophthalmology for Ocular Trauma, which was founded by Professor Zhang, a famous ophthalmologist in China. In the early 1980s, China's ophthalmology industry was in its infancy, and the research on ocular trauma and occupational eye diseases was relatively backward. In order to promote the development of ophthalmology in China, Professor Zhang decided to set up a magazine to report the research on ocular trauma and occupational eye diseases. After several years' efforts, this journal has gradually developed and expanded, and was officially renamed as China Journal of Practical Ophthalmology on 1990.
With the development of the times, China's ophthalmology has made great achievements. In order to better reflect the latest progress in the field of ophthalmology in China, in 2005, China Journal of Practical Ophthalmology was renamed China Journal of Visual Health again. The name change not only reflects the all-round development of ophthalmology in China, but also provides a broader communication platform for the field of visual health in China.
In short, CVIU, as an important journal of ophthalmology in China, witnessed the rise and development of ophthalmology in China. In the future, CVIU will continue to adhere to the purpose of "serving the clinic and promoting innovation" and make greater contributions to the cause of visual health in China.
