When it comes to Chinese fonts, I'm afraid there is no one in China who doesn't know the song style. But who created Song Ti? How did Song Ti come from? Then few people know.
China's calligraphy fonts are all named after the founder (or representative) of calligraphy. For example, Yan Zhenqing's calligraphy is called Yan Ti, Zhao Mengfu's calligraphy is called Zhao Ti, Ou Yangxun's calligraphy is called Ou Ti, Liu Gongquan's calligraphy is called Liu Ti, and so on. In modern times, Yu Youren's calligraphy is called "style", and Mao Zedong's calligraphy is called "hairstyle", but only Song-style characters are named after dynasties. Why?
The founder of Songzi was Qin Gui in Song Dynasty. Scholar Qin Gui is not only exquisite in calligraphy, but also knowledgeable. He summed up the strengths of his predecessors' calligraphy, established his own family, and strived to create Song Style. The font is fair and solemn, serious and generous, with fine horizontal and thick vertical, which is very beautiful. It should have been called "Qin style".
Qin Gui, the founder of Songzi, had a good reputation when he was an official in his early years. He was people-oriented and put state affairs first. Later, in the Southern Song Dynasty, Gao Zong was promoted to prime minister. After Qin Gui became prime minister, he catered to Emperor Gaozong's partial security policy and suppressed the generals who resisted gold. He killed the national hero Yue Fei and his son in Fengbo Pavilion on trumped-up charges, which exposed the true face of traitors and became a sinner of the eternal nation, causing widespread indignation and resentment. Although Qin Gui's handwriting is good, people are extremely disgusted with his moral quality in dealing with people, and eventually they are despised by the world. Therefore, the word is not named after its founder, but renamed Song Ci with the name of the dynasty.
Later, people imitated the structure and brushwork of Songti characters and changed them into beautiful long and narrow printed fonts with the same stroke thickness, which is imitation of Songti. Today, imitation Song is designated as the standard font of mechanical drawing, the font of Chinese typewriter and the main font of computer by the state. Who knew that Qin Gui would be the originator of Song-style imitation and Song-style characters, if not specifically mentioned? It seems that from ancient times to today, character is more important than books!
