There are four types of welder certificates, including fusion welding and thermal cutting operation certificates, construction welder certificates, and welder professional qualification certificates.
1. Fusion welding and thermal cutting operation certificate.
The melt welding and thermal cutting operation certificate, referred to as the "welder operation certificate", is a necessary certificate for welders to work, so it is also called the "job certificate". It is issued by the Emergency Management Bureau (former Work Safety Supervision Bureau) Issued. The appearance of the operation certificate is similar to that of an ID card. It is an IC card, now also called a proximity card, and the corresponding information can be read with a specialized machine. There is a QR code in the lower right corner of the card. By scanning the QR code, you can check the certificate information on the National Work Safety Examination official account.
2. Construction welder certificate.
The construction welder certificate is suitable for use at construction sites. The issuing unit is the local Construction and Communications Commission of the municipality directly under the Central Government, and the provincial unit is the local Urban and Rural Development Department. The difference between the construction welder certificate issued by the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the welder operation certificate issued by the Emergency Management Bureau is that the construction welder certificate can only be used within the construction industry, while the welder operation certificate is suitable for use in various industries other than the construction industry.
3. Welder professional qualification certificate.
The Welder Professional Qualification Certificate, referred to as the "Welder Grade Certificate", is a qualification certificate issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. The welder grade certificate reflects the skill level of the welder and is the main basis for employer recruitment and employment. It is also a necessary certificate for employees’ promotion, salary increase and professional title assessment. The grade certificate is divided into five levels: Level 5 (elementary), Level 4 (intermediate), Level 3 (advanced), Level 2 (technician), and Level 1 (senior technician).
4. Special equipment welding certificate.
The special equipment welding certificate, also known as the "pressure vessel welder certificate", is issued by the Quality Supervision Bureau. This certificate is mainly aimed at welders of pressure vessels and is a necessary professional certificate for those engaged in pressure vessel welding. The welding certificate lists the metal materials and pressure-bearing welds that the certificate holder can weld. It is a way to prove the certificate holder’s skills. All welds that require ultrasonic, X-ray, gamma ray, etc. testing need to be held. Welding should be done by a qualified welder.
