The Zhongshan Ophthalmology Center of Sun Yat-sen University is located at No. 54, Xianlie South Road, Guangzhou, covering an area of ??more than 8,900 square meters and a construction area of ??more than 35,000 square meters.

Sun Yat-sen Eye Center is one of the affiliated units of Sun Yat-sen University. Its predecessor was the Ophthalmology Teaching and Research Section of Sun Yat-sen Medical College, which was composed of the ophthalmology departments of Lingnan University School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University School of Medicine, and Guanghua Medical School. In October 2001, Sun Yat-sen Medical University and Sun Yat-sen University merged, and Sun Yat-sen Medical University Zhongshan Ophthalmology Center was renamed Sun Yat-sen University Zhongshan Ophthalmology Center. Zhongshan Eye Center consists of an eye hospital, an eye research institute, an office for the prevention and treatment of blindness, and an optometry department. In 1995, the Eye Hospital was rated as a civilized unit in Guangdong Province by the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government. In 1997, the Department of Optometry established by Sun Yat-sen Medical University was located in the Zhongshan Ophthalmology Center. In 1998, the Eye Hospital was rated as one of the "Top 100 Civilized Hospitals" by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Health. In 1999, Zhongshan Ophthalmology Center was rated as "National Advanced Group in Health System" and "Bethune-style Advanced Group" in Guangdong Province. In 2001, the corresponding key ophthalmology laboratory was established with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology and the Department of Education; the Ministry of Science and Technology-Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology first established an ophthalmology laboratory. In 2005, the Ophthalmology Laboratory of Zhongshan Ophthalmology Center was officially included in the 2005 National Key Laboratory of Ophthalmology Construction Plan of the Ministry of Science and Technology. Faculty

The center has strong faculty and is one of the important bases for cultivating ophthalmology talents in my country. It currently has 34 doctoral tutors and 36 master's tutors. It is the first institution in my country that can recruit ophthalmology masters. and one of the earliest units for doctoral students. In addition to teaching, providing medical care and guiding scientific research for graduate students, these graduate tutors also serve as teaching staff at different levels such as domestic visiting scholars, overseas study personnel, visiting students, and undergraduate students. In recent years, the center has recruited doctoral students, master's students and seven-year master's students every year. There are currently 216 postgraduate students, including 103 doctoral students, 113 master's students and 137 visiting students. In addition to graduate students and visiting students from 30 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions across the country (except Taiwan), there are also visiting students from abroad and Macau. Since 1997, the Department of Optometry has recruited 20 undergraduate students every year. The teachers prepare lessons carefully, are rigorous in their studies, teach by words and deeds, and educate people. They are highly praised by students and praised by superiors.

The center’s blindness prevention agency cooperates with foreign institutions such as the International Blindness Prevention Organization HKI Foundation and sends medical teams every year. They have gone to 19 counties, cities and 48 towns in Guangdong to carry out blindness detection, prevention and treatment. He works, conducts epidemiological surveys of eye diseases, and trains grassroots ophthalmologists. He is deeply welcomed by grassroots people and medical staff and praised by international ophthalmology colleagues.
