Beijing Tongrentang Group is a wholly-owned enterprise of the Beijing Municipal Government, whose main business includes modern pharmaceuticals, retail business and medical services, and the whole group has six secondary groups and three listed companies. In fact, at the end of the Qing Dynasty, the Le family multiplied into four major branches, namely, the four brothers Le Mengfeng, Le Zhongfeng, Le Shufeng and Le Jifeng. Tongrentang was managed by these four major branches*** together, and it was stipulated that each branch received 10,000 taels of silver from Tongrentang every year. In addition, they were allowed to consign and sell their home-made medicines such as pills, proteins, creams and dans at Tongrentang. At that time, most of the workers in the Tongrentang store were non-relatives or friends.
