Yang Liwei's voice

Before his departure, Yang Liwei in the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center press conference, answering the reporter's questions, to the whole army generals to reveal their own voice.

Our reporter asked: through the military newspaper, what do you most want to say to your comrades in the three armies? Yang Liwei replied: as an astronaut, I am first of all a *** and the country's soldiers; as a soldier, through so many years of the army's cultivation and education of me, I think, in the implementation of this mission, will be able to carry forward the glorious tradition of the people's army and the revolutionary spirit of fearlessness, obedience to orders, follow the command, overcoming all the difficulties, resolutely complete the task. I would also like to thank my comrades throughout the army through the military newspaper for their encouragement, concern and love for us, and please rest assured that I will live up to your expectations and add color to our military flag.

"For the peace and progress of mankind, the Chinese have come to space!" On the occasion of boarding the "Shenzhou" No. 5 manned spacecraft, wearing a space suit, China's first manned space flight astronaut Yang Liwei, full of passion for reporters to write these words.

The Chinese are coming, Yang Liwei is coming! At 9 o'clock on October 15, 2003, with the 38-year-old astronaut Yang Liwei, a lieutenant colonel, flying into space on a manned spacecraft designed and manufactured by China itself, the Chinese nation's dream of thousands of years of flying has finally come true, and China has become the third major space country to put its astronauts into space, following the Russian Federation and the United States.

The whole world remembers the name of a Chinese --- Yang Liwei.

Driving a fighter jet for ten years

On June 21, 1965, Yang Liwei was born in Suizhong County, Liaoning Province, into a scholarly family.

Yang Liwei's father was a college graduate in the early 1960s. His father worked as a teacher and then as an administrator at an agricultural and sideline products company in Suizhong County; his mother worked as a language teacher at a middle school in the county until she retired. He also has an older sister and a younger brother, and the whole family of five lives a comfortable and peaceful life.

"Doing things honestly and being honest" is what Yang Liwei's parents asked of him. As a child, Yang Liwei had a quick brain, quick reaction, or a doll's head. When he graduated from elementary school, he was admitted into the top class of the county's key middle school with excellent results, and participated in the county's secondary school students' math competition many times, and won a lot of prizes.

In the summer of 1983, at the age of 18, Yang Liwei was admitted to the People's Liberation Army Air Force Eighth Flight Academy. During his four years at the academy, his academic and training performance has been excellent.

In 1987, Yang Liwei graduated from the flight academy and became a strong fighter pilot of a division of the Air Force. He was born with intelligence and hard work, he soon became the top pilot of the division, and later he became an excellent fighter pilot. 10 years, he flew from North China to Northwest China, from Northwest China to Southwest China, leaving his robust figure in the motherland's miles of blue sky.

In the summer of 1992, Yang Liwei's unit came to an airport in Xinjiang to carry out training missions. On that day, he drove a war eagle in Turpan over Lake Aydin for ultra-low altitude flight. Suddenly, the aircraft issued a loud bang, all of a sudden the instrumentation shows that the temperature of the cylinder rises suddenly, the engine speed drops sharply! Yang Liwei understood that he ran into a serious "air stop" failure, an engine of the aircraft does not work! In this emergency, Yang Liwei is exceptionally calm: he must take the airplane back!

He held the joystick steadily, slowly throttled back, and drove the fighter plane with only one engine left up a little bit to climb, climb, climb, climb, climb. 500 meters, 1,000 meters, 1,500 meters, the plane crossed the Tien Shan mountain range, and flew toward the airport. Close to the runway, the remaining engine does not work. He decisively took the measure of emergency landing gear release, and successfully landed the completely unpowered fighter plane on the runway in an emergency.

When he came out of the cabin, his flight suit was soaked with sweat. The soldiers gathered around and hugged him. The regiment commander was so excited that he announced on the spot that he would give Yang Liwei a third-class merit award.

The correct handling of this "air special situation" shows Yang Liwei's excellent psychological quality.

Standing out from the 800 finalists

In the early summer of 1996, Yang Liwei, who was 1.68 meters tall and weighed 65 kilograms, was notified that he was going to a sanatorium in Qingdao to take part in the initial physical examination for astronauts. After passing the initial examination, he was notified to attend the clinical physical examination at the Air Force General Hospital in Beijing. Yang Liwei was so happy that he came 3 days in advance. Nurses and he joked: "You are also too positive, right?"

Next, he went to the Beijing Institute of Aerospace Medical Engineering to take part in the "special examination," or aerospace physiological function examination.

The Soviet astronaut Gagarin, who was the first human to fly into space, once described the scene when he took part in the selection of astronauts: In addition to checking their health, the doctors looked for latent defects in each of them. They examined with the help of all possible biochemical, physiological, electroencephalographic and psychological methods and special functional tests. We were examined in various very thin air pressure chambers and spun in centrifuges. All this took several weeks and eliminated a number of our companions.

Chinese astronauts are also selected through the same process. The medical clinical examination of dozens of large and small organs of the human body, one by one. Subsequent aerospace physiological function check is even more demanding, to be in the centrifuge rotating at high speed, test subjects chest and back to the head and pelvis to a variety of overweight endurance; to be in the low-pressure test chamber to make subjects rise to 5,000 meters, 10,000 meters high altitude test resistance to hypoxia; to rotate the seat and swings on the vestibular function of the test subjects. A few months down the road, there are few of the 800 or so preliminary finalists left.

Yang Liwei passed one hurdle after another without incident. The last test he underwent was the "10,000-meter hypoxia low-pressure test. This involves first taking in oxygen and nitrogen outside the chamber, and then sitting in a chamber that mimics 10,000 meters of low pressure. When descending from the simulated height of 10,000 meters, he thought to himself: "finally passed", and couldn't help but feel a sense of relief, subconsciously touching his head. As a result, the doctor got nervous, and when he came down, he asked him hurriedly, "Are you having a hard time up there?"

Yang Liwei is the luckiest and the best. His clinical medicine and aerospace physiological function of all the indicators of the examination reached excellent, conquered the selection committee of all the experts. in January 1998, as China's first astronauts in a molecule, Yang Liwei with his dream and the pursuit of the Beijing Astronaut Training Center.

Beijing's climate was particularly cold in the middle of winter, but he was hot inside. He and a dozen other astronauts came to the rocket system, flight system, measurement and control system of China's manned space project for a field visit, listening to the lectures of experts. His understanding of the astronaut profession became profound from the initial mystery.

He learned that, in the decades after the founding of the People's Republic of China, China has its own missiles, atomic bombs, artificial Earth satellites, and now has begun the sprint to manned spaceflight; behind him and the other Chinese astronauts, there are many unsung heroes who have been quietly dedicated to the thousands of troops and horses holding up China's "Shenzhou". "

This is the first time that a Chinese astronaut has been in the air.

He recalled that in ancient times, China had the dream of Chang'e running to the moon. For thousands of years, how many literati wrote moving poems about it, and even more people such as Wando made extremely tragic attempts. Now, the Chinese nation's dream of flying to the sky will become a reality with his participation and efforts!

Yang Liwei can not be excited and proud of it!

Climbing the "stairway to heaven"

The Soviet astronaut Alexei Leonov, who was selected together with Gagarin, once called the astronaut's training stage the "stairway to heaven". His companion, Valery Bekovsky, added: "It's not a short ladder." They weren't wrong.

The first rung of the ladder Yang Liwei had to climb was basic theory training. After more than 10 years as a pilot, he now sits back in the classroom, where a dozen or so courses in Fundamentals of Manned Space Engineering, Fundamentals of Aerospace Medicine, Anatomy and Physiology, and Star Recognition ...... have to be learned from scratch.

When he left the Air Force unit, the division commander who saw him off once told him, "I have nothing to worry about with your body and training. But you may have to face the challenge of learning many new things." At the time, Yang Liwei didn't pay much attention to that.

The moment was y felt. He called his head teacher, "You've hit the nail on the head! Now I'm memorizing my homework every day like a student preparing for a college entrance exam."

Yang Liwei was born to be a man who was not willing to be left behind, and when he remembered the sacred mission he was entrusted with, he was even more sleepless. He recalled, "For two years when I first came here, I didn't sleep before 12 o'clock at night."

His English was weak in the past, so he called home from the astronauts' apartment every night in order to memorize words and phrases, and asked his wife, Zhang Yumei, to ask questions over the phone. Over and over again, over and over again. When he took the test later, he actually scored 100 points.

The second rung of the ladder is space environment adaptation training. This is a very tough training. Just take one of the "overweight endurance" training as an example, when the spacecraft is in ballistic orbit back to Earth, the overweight value will reach more than ten "G", that is, people have to withstand the pressure equivalent to more than ten times their own weight. Normally, this can easily cause extreme difficulty or stop breathing, loss of will, black vision and even directly affect the safety of life. Yang Liwei must enhance his overweight endurance through training.

The "centrifuge" training is the most effective form for astronauts to improve their overweight endurance. In a round hall, Yang Liwei sits in a cylinder held by an 8-meter-long iron arm. In the high-speed rotation at 100 kilometers per hour, he not only has to practice load-resistant actions such as straining his abdominal muscles and breathing through his stomach, but also has to answer questions and read signals at any time to maintain his agile judgment and reaction ability.

The centrifuge was rotating, and the load gradually increased from 1 G to 8 G. Yang Liwei's facial muscles began to deform and droop, his muscles pulled down, and his forehead protruded high. When doing overweight in the direction of the head and pelvis, his blood was pressed to the lower limbs, the mind ischemic spinning; when doing overweight in the direction of the chest and back, his chest and back are like a boulder weighing several hundred pounds, resulting in a faster heartbeat and breathing difficulties. Every time he does a training, he has to pay a huge physical exertion.

Yang Liwei is a person who loves to use his brain, and he understands that the anti-loading methods taught by the instructors have to be experienced and groped by individuals in practice. Therefore, every training he consciously in accordance with the personal experience of the method to practice, timely communication with the instructor, summarize the experience, to master the anti-load force and frequency of the degree, and slowly figure out the rules and methods, so that this very challenging, harsh and demanding training gradually become easy.

The "swivel chair" and "head-down" training is also difficult for ordinary people to bear, but Yang Liwei also did a very good job.

On a day off, his wife came home and found him alone in the living room, spinning in circles, and asked in surprise, "What are you doing?" He said, "We're going to do the swivel chair training test in a couple of days, so I'm stimulating myself first."

An old expert who is very demanding on astronaut training said with great pride, "Yang Liwei's performance in the swivel-chair training is the most outstanding, and he is my most proud student."

Likewise, a few days before the "head down" training, Yang Liwei sleep at night without a pillow. According to him, it was also to "stimulate himself first".

Other "steps" include physical training, psychological training, specialized technical training, flight procedures and mission simulation training, and life-saving and survival training. Yang Liwei with his unparalleled love for the space industry and the persistent pursuit of strict requirements for their own, to do everything to excellence, the training achievements have become the best among his peers.

Nothing can affect my training

Yang Liwei's wife, Zhang Yumei, was originally a middle school teacher, and then specially recruited to the army as a file clerk. She is a quiet and weak, the two married husband and wife. In order to support her husband's career, Zhang Yumei took on all the household chores, and even when her son was born, she didn't delay her husband's work.

Son, Yang Ningkang, is in third grade. The biggest hero in young Ningkang's mind is his dad. The teacher asked to write an essay, he took his dad's photo and wrote it as a "dad's majestic posture". He wrote: "Seeing the photo of my dad's majestic posture of selfless dedication and hard training for the motherland's aerospace industry makes me very proud and honored." The essay was later published in the school's "Essay Herald," and Ningkang was paid 18 yuan for his work.

July 2001, his wife, Zhang Yumei, was admitted to the hospital due to illness and needed surgery. Zhang Yumei said: "When I was pushed into the operating room at the moment, see Yang Liwei on my kind of never-before-experienced ten thousand hang-ups and compassionate apologetic eyes, the heart like a knife ah!"

After the surgery, Zhang Yumei was so weak that she lay flat on her back 24 hours a day and didn't dare to move at all. However, the third day after the operation, Yang Liwei will bid farewell to his wife to go to an air force base in Jilin, astronauts high-altitude flight training.

The day before his departure, he sat on a chair by his wife's bedside for a whole night, and then returned to the astronaut brigade without any hesitation.

The leader of the brigade said, "Your wife is very sick, are you ......"

Yang Liwei said, "Please don't worry about the chief, I have asked my old mother to come over to help me take care of it, and nothing can interfere with my training."

The high-altitude flight training, Yang Liwei finished cleanly and once again achieved excellent results.

The leader of the brigade told reporters: "On the one hand, there is his sick wife, on the other hand, there is intense training, Yang Liwei bear the pressure can be imagined. However, his training performance is steadily improving, and he is always at the top among his peers."

Being voted by the panel of experts as the "chief candidate"

Selecting the best among the best and picking the strongest among the strongest. "During the preparation stage for the launch of the Shenzhou V manned spacecraft, Yang Liwei was selected as the "3-man first flight echelon" and honored to be the chief candidate by secret ballot of the expert group due to his excellent training performance and comprehensive quality.

Yang Liwei devoted himself to the "intensive training".

Most of the time, he stayed in the "spaceship simulator". The spacecraft simulator is a professional technical training place for astronauts to carry out space flight procedures and operation training in the real simulation of the environment inside the spacecraft on the ground in the same proportion. It is often said that one minute on the stage, ten years of work under the stage. The spacecraft from the launch into orbit, and then return to Earth, the duration of dozens of hours or even hundreds of hours, the flight program instructions thousands of operating actions have more than a hundred times. The instrument panel in the cabin is densely packed with red and blue lights, various lines are crisscrossed, and various facilities and products are scattered everywhere. To be familiar with and master them, and to be able to carry out all kinds of operations and troubleshooting, only by repeated rehearsals.

Yang Liwei found all the equipment diagrams and electric door diagrams he could find in the cabin and pasted them on the wall of his dormitory, memorizing them at any time. He also used a small video camera to record the internal equipment and structure of the cockpit, entered it into the computer, and burned a CD-ROM for himself, which he watched in his spare time.

Every time he trains, Yang Liwei's eyes are always so bright, all the inspections are always so detailed, and every action is always so in place. He won the praise of the instructors with his serious spirit and skillful technique. In the final stage of the professional and technical examination, the instructor set many fault traps for him, he was able to quickly find, quickly eliminated. At the end of each assessment, the instructor asked him, "Did you make any mistakes in the operation?" He all answered confidently, "There were no mistakes!"

In the five normal flight procedure exams, he obtained two 99 points, three 100 points, and ranked first in the comprehensive assessment of professional and technical.

On the eve of the launch, Yang Liwei came to the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center to take part in the "people, ships, arrows, ground" joint test exercises.

At this moment, Yang Liwei, who has been through a lot of training, is already familiar with the flight procedures and operation procedures of the spaceship, and he knows them by heart. He confidently told reporters: "Now when I close my eyes, all the instruments in the cockpit, the position of the electric door can think clearly; casually say the name of a piece of equipment in the cabin, I can immediately think of its color, location, role; operation required to see the operation manual, I can recite down, if encountered a special situation, I don't look at the manual, but also completely able to handle. "

When the spacecraft is actually launched, about 3 minutes and 20 seconds after takeoff, the "fairing" covering the outside of the cockpit will be thrown off according to the program, and the astronauts can start to see the sky outside the porthole at this time. However, during the rehearsal, this can only be an imaginary scene, will not actually happen. So no one in the command hall expected the astronauts to react at this point.

The drill was in progress, and Yang Liwei in the spacecraft cockpit was meticulously and busily doing all kinds of prescribed actions. The program has just gone to 3 minutes and 20 seconds, the command center hall came Yang Liwei loud report voice: "fairing cast off, I see the sky outside the window!"

A veteran general asked Su Shuangning, director of the Institute of Aerospace Medical Engineering, in amazement, "Your astronauts are so well-trained that they even know this?"

Being the commander-in-chief and chief designer of China's manned spaceflight engineering astronaut system, Su Shuangning was proud of himself: "Just kidding, you know what he knows, but he still doesn't know it?!" Space a round trip, China five thousand years.

Mankind since Gagarin, the world has hundreds of astronauts, traveled by a variety of space vehicles in space. Today, the Chinese people with their wisdom and courage, a light leap, stride into the ranks of the world's advanced.

Before the maiden flight, Yang Liwei's psychological instructor had asked him, "Have you ever thought about what it would be like to actually get on a spacecraft and fly?"

With a smile on his face, he replied, "I think I will be more relaxed than usual training. Just let me go flying in peace!"

Oh, Li Wei! You carry the weight of the Chinese nation on your shoulders and welcome the world's attention with a smile. The Milky Way dances for you, and the rising sun sends you in triumph!

Kinsmen will be there for you

●Du Xianzhou and Ding Haiming, our correspondents

Standing in Beijing's aerospace city amidst the sporadic autumn rain in the morning, the first snowstorm on the western mountains was clearly visible.

Today is the day when Yang Liwei, China's first flying astronaut, bids farewell to Beijing Space City and heads for the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. At 7:30 a.m., Yang's wife and children stood in the cheering queue early, waiting for their loved ones who are heading out.

At 7:45 a.m., Yang Liwei, dressed in military attire, walked in. Unexpectedly, his farewell to his loved ones was surprisingly calm, as calm as he usually goes to work.

Yang Liwei came to his parents and said to the old man, "It's cold, wear more clothes, don't think about me." After saying that, he turned back to his wife and smiled, neither tears nor hugs. Surrounded by a lot of people, his wife did not know what to say, and asked abruptly, "Did you bring civilian clothes?" He smiled and asked back, "Why bring civilian clothes?" Everyone laughed. Yang Liwei leaned over and kissed his son,

Son said mischievously, "Dad, you come back early, teach me to play the game."

Reporters have seen all kinds of military goodbyes -- on the battlefield, on the flood embankment, on the wind and snow border ...... yet they have never seen such a major, epoch-making farewell, but it was so easy.

"You really not nervous?" The reporter asked. "What's there to be nervous about?" Yang Liwei replied with a smile. "The party and the state attach so much importance to the manned space project, nowadays science and technology is so developed, our country's technical force is so strong, I believe in the party and the state, believe in science and technology, but also believe in my lover!" His wife, Zhang Yumei, picked up the story.

The reporter y felt that Yang Liwei's family is a warm and happy family. 69-year-old father Yang Deyuan is a retired cadre of an agricultural and sideline products company in Suizhong County, Liaoning Province; with his father's mother, Wei Guilan, a retired middle school teacher, came from his hometown to celebrate his son's death, and the two old men brought 5 pounds of their son's favorite food, crabs. In a ministry as a file clerk's wife Zhang Yumei is Yang Liwei's hometown, when it was from the county records saw Yang Liwei's "big name", so there is this romantic love. Learning outstanding son Yang Ningkang is a third-grade elementary school students, to give his father's gift has long been ready, that is a published in the "Essay Herald" on the composition of the "Dad's majestic": "I am proud of their own a good father and feel proud of ......."

Husband is about to go on a journey, his wife came to whisper in his ear: "Don't forget to call ......" Yang Liwei nodded vigorously.

9:20, Yang Liwei with the trust of their loved ones, with the hopes of the people of the country, with the dreams of the Chinese nation, took the plane to fly to the faraway ......

The dome of the sky will surely report the good news

● Our correspondents Du Xianzhou, Ding Haiming <

The cold front has added a bit of winter to Beijing in late fall. Yang Liwei's departure from Beijing has left his loved ones with thoughts and worries.

At 8 p.m. on the night of the 12th, the home phone rang, and Zhang Yumei picked up the receiver, her husband's familiar voice coming from afar.

First, the husband asked his wife to answer: "How is our father and mother?" "All good." "How is our son?" "Good." "And you?" "Good." "You all take care of yourselves."

Then came the wife's question and husband's answer, "Did it go well today?" "It went well." "How are you now?" "Everything is fine." "You have to take care of yourself." "I will, don't you worry."

It was these few simple questions and answers that brought warmth and comfort to this small family every night after Yang Liwei left.

However, on second thought, the phone call, they intentionally or unintentionally bypassed the most sensitive topic.

"Was there any talk of 'once' or 'in case'?" The reporter asked the hero's loved ones to forgive the unavoidable presumption.

"No, not really. There could be two reasons for that. One is that we all had a near-absolute confidence in the launch. And then there's the fact that we all have a military outlook on dedication: if it's worth giving, we don't ask for anything in return; if we do our best, we have no regrets." Zhang Yumei's confidence and candor are admirable.

It goes without saying that Yang Liwei's relatives were almost the center of media attention during the Shenzhou flight. But they avoided the camera and flash, avoided the flowers and applause, life as usual as calm and peaceful. Zhang Yumei commutes to work as usual, and her parents take the shuttle bus to take their grandson to and from school every day.

Yang Liwei was selected as an astronaut in 1998, winning honor for his family. But only they know the sweetness and bitterness of these years. In the past few years, they seldom had family reunions, and it was rare to see Mr. and Mrs. Yang Liwei even when they were working in a compound. Mother sprained waist, a few months did not get out of bed, did not let Yang Liwei know. Zhang Yumei's health is not good, every month to the hospital to do a checkup, but she never left the family's burden. When the training was intense, Yang Liwei lived in the astronauts' apartment and could not go home, she also talked to her husband on the phone at night. Not complaining, let alone complaining, but helping her husband review his English.

Dusk fell on the 14th. The clock is ticking, one second closer to the moment when the Shenzhou will fly into the sky. Yang Liwei's son, Ningkang, pointed to the night sky and asked his mother, "Mom, can I find my dad in the sky tomorrow?" (Beijing, Oct. 14)

Liwei, I applaud you

--Astronaut brigade leader Shen Xingyun watched the launch of the spacecraft

●Mou Jiajin

"5, 4, 3, 2, 1, ignition! "

With a deafening bang, the divine arrow lifted the manned spacecraft Shenzhou V and stabbed the dome of the sky, and Chinese astronaut Yang Liwei began the Chinese nation's "flying" journey.

The crowd watching the launch cheered and jumped, celebrating the historic moment in a unique way. Chinese astronaut brigade leader Shen Xingyun could not contain his tears of joy.

Looking back, Shen Xingyun was overcome with emotion.

In January 1998, Yang Liwei and his comrades came to the Beijing Institute of Aerospace Medical Engineering. The first astronaut brigade in the history of our army was formally organized. In order to build this only special force in the whole army, Shen Xingyun has been to some air force units to visit the field, in-depth pilots living in the front line, to study and understand the pilot's life routine.

Shen Xingyun can not forget, in more than five years, Yang Liwei and his comrades to pay the hard work. The basic theory of homework, they study one by one, the day class, night rest, in the field recuperation but also memorize English words; skills training difficult, they rise to the challenge, the courage to attack, one by one hard practice.

Shen Xingyun can't forget, Yang Liwei this shrewd young man, the spirit is always so full, the energy is always so full, his wife to do surgery also refused to delay the training. In the first flight selection of five examinations, he received two 9 9 points, three 100 points of good results, to professional and technical comprehensive assessment of the first sort, become China's manned spaceflight "first flight astronauts". Li Wei ah, my good comrade-in-arms, good brother, I am proud of you, for you to applaud!

Yang Liwei in the eyes of the folks

●Jiao Yuqing, Han Jun, this reporter Korea Xian

Today, in the Chinese nation's first "astronaut" hometown, known as "the first county of Guanwai

Today, in Suizhong County, Liaoning Province, the hometown of the first Chinese "astronaut" and known as "the first county outside the Guanwai", folks can't help but reminisce and recount the story of the hero yesterday.1 Yang Liwei was mentioned, and retired Suizhong County Primary School teacher Wang Suying, who has 38 years of experience, was glowing with excitement: "I've taught no less than 2,000 students, and the vast majority of them don't remember, but I have a deep impression of Yang Liwei! I have a deep impression of Yang Liwei."

It was 1977, and Wang Suying was the class teacher of the fifth grade class at Suizhong County Central Primary School. Among this class, she still remembers two students: one was named David Gu and the other was Yang Liwei. One day, the playful David Gu was severely criticized by Ms. Wang, and David Gu gambled and did not come to class. Looking at Mr. Wang's anxious look, Yang Liwei took the initiative to find David Gu to do the work. After some reasonable conversation, David Gu not only happily picked up his schoolbag, but also took the initiative to apologize to the teacher.

In those days, schools couldn't even afford to buy chalk. Seeing this situation, a few students decided to steal iron from a nearby factory and sell it to pay class fees. When Yang Liwei learned of this, he told the group: although it's good to raise class fees for the class, we can't jeopardize the interests of the country and the collective for this purpose.

Teacher Wang Suying said: "Little Liwei himself is a good student and I quite like it. These two things are more so that I remember very clearly ......"

In Suizhong County Water Conservancy Bureau of the River Division of the younger brother Yang Junwei, talking about his brother is a face of splendor. Since childhood, his brother is a dazzling star in his heart.

When Yang Liwei went to middle school, Suizhong County had not all electricity. Because of the family's difficult life, can not afford to buy candles, Yang Liwei every night with a kerosene lamp reading, the next morning often get up "gray face". In winter, in order to save money, he borrowed the light of the stove every day, while warming up and reading. As a result of his hard work, his academic performance was always at the top of his class, especially in mathematics, and he represented his class many times in mathematics competitions organized by the school.2 On Yang Liwei's way of growing up, there was one person who had a great influence on him: his old neighbor, Zhao Zhongshan, an old predecessor who joined the revolution in 1938. old-timer.

Zhao Zhongshan died a long time ago, but Zhao Aunt, who is also an old soldier, is always hilarious every time she mentions Xiaowei Zi: my family has a lot of "experience", and Xiaowei Zi follows his grandfather's ass every day to listen to him tell stories about the war years.

In the second year of junior high school, the school organized a visit to the air force near the resident, Yang Liwei saw the pilot's physical training. In order to be able to exercise a qualified body, he made a detailed fitness program for himself including shuttlecock, swimming, long-distance running and so on. It was when he returned home on holidays that he required himself to do a prescribed amount of pull-ups on the doorway in front of his house. Into the winter, skating is a good sport. No money to buy skates, he found two hacksaw blades, made a pair of "ice skates". As the midterm exams approached, the pressure of study was increasing, but Yang Liwei's exercise program was unchanged.3 "This child is especially benevolent." This is the left and right neighbors said the most words.

In Suizhong Town, Yang Liwei is a recognized filial son. Before he became a soldier, he seldom made his parents angry. After the military, afraid of parents miss, is to study the training task is again heavy, every two days to write a letter home. It is said that the boy heart thick, but Yang Liwei but think very carefully. He remembers his parents' birthdays clearly. Every birthday, the two old will receive Yang Liwei sent gifts.
