Conducting newborn screening is one of the concrete measures to protect children's health and improve the quality of the birth population in Fujian Province. According to the relevant provisions of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Maternal and Infant Health Care, the Fujian Provincial Department of Health decided to set up two sub-centers in the province from 2002 onwards, and Quanzhou Maternal and Child Health Hospital is one of the sub-centers in charge of newborn screening and treatment of diseases in the cities of Quanzhou and Sanming.
