1, the insured objects are different: employee medical insurance is the medical security provided for the employees of the employer, and the insured objects of rural medical insurance are mainly local villagers;
2. Different payers: Employee medical insurance is the medical insurance premium paid by employers and members of society. Rural medical insurance is organized by the government, and farmers participate voluntarily, and is jointly funded by individuals, collectives and the government;
3. Different payment methods: medical insurance needs to be paid for a certain number of years (usually 6 consecutive months) before users can enjoy reimbursement. The new rural cooperative medical system is a voluntary participation of farmers, and they have to go through the formalities of insurance payment every year;
4. Different reimbursement rates: rural township hospitals have the highest reimbursement rate for the new rural cooperative medical system, while hospitals above the municipal level have a relatively small reimbursement rate. The reimbursement rate of medical insurance for employees is generally the highest in designated hospitals, and the reimbursement rate in other hospitals will be reduced.
Both enterprise medical insurance and farmers' medical insurance belong to the category of social medical insurance and are managed by the Medical Security Bureau. There are also some commercial medical insurances in China, which belong to insurance contracts signed by commercial insurance companies and the insured. The medical insurance of enterprises is called basic medical insurance for employees. The insurance paid by farmers used to be called the new rural cooperative medical system, but now it is called medical insurance for urban and rural residents. The medical insurance for urban and rural residents is a combination of the new rural cooperative medical system and the medical insurance for urban residents stipulated by the state. This is also a way for the country to promote the integration of urban and rural areas and give farmers and urban residents medical insurance benefits.
