Historical Trivia In 1958, the founders felt that the decline of Chinese medicine before the establishment of the China Medical College, mainly to allow students to learn modern Western scientific methods to improve Chinese medicine, so that students become a combination of Chinese and Western medicine talents. In August 2003, the name was officially changed to China Medical University. China Medical University in Shanghai Jiao Tong University on August 15, 2012, the latest release of the 2012 "Academic Ranking of World Universities", for the first time in the world's top 500 (ranked 453rd), with the University of Taiwan, Tsinghua University, Chengdu University, Jiaotong University, Chang Gung University, Yang Ming, Sun Yat-sen, Central and other nine domestic universities listed in the world's top 500 universities list, is the only one in Central Taiwan, and is the only one in Taiwan. 500 university list, the only university in Central Taiwan to make the list and surpass National Chung Hsing University. Currently, except for the departments of Medicine, Chinese Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy, most of the first-year general education of the disciplines are taken at the Beigang branch. In the future, the four colleges of Dentistry, Pharmacy, Pharmaceuticals, and Public Health will be relocated to the Shuiyan Campus, which is located in the Shuiyan Economic and Trade Park, and the planning content of this campus is still uncertain; and the communication between the faculty and the students is still insufficient, resulting in a lot of controversies. However, it is almost a foregone conclusion that the university will relocate to the Shui Chun Campus within two years and convert part of the main campus into a hospital. In order to improve the quality of teaching and research, the university has established the Oncology Medical Research Center, the Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Research Center, and the Chinese Herbal Medicine Research Center, "Brain Disease Research Center", "Immunology Research Center" and other five research centers, through the internal and external funding injection, yearly subsidies ranging from 10 million to 40 million research funds to focus on cultivation; and hope to attract outstanding talents and research teams from around the world, in the field of biomedical research. It also hopes to attract outstanding talents and research teams from all over the world to gain a leading position in the field of biomedical research, with a view to building the most advanced biomedical research team and health care system in the world, and thus driving the development of Taiwan's education, health care, and biomedical industries towards the international arena. The university's student clubs are divided into six categories: comprehensive clubs, academic clubs, recreational clubs, service clubs, physical fitness clubs, and fellowship clubs, and there are currently more than 100 clubs. City Profile Taichung City is a municipality in the Republic of China (ROC), one of the six capitals of Taiwan, and is the only municipality in central Taiwan. Geographic Location Taichung City is surrounded by six counties in Taiwan Province of China, with Miaoli and Hsinchu Counties in the north, Changhua and Nantou Counties in the south, Hualien County in the east across the Central Mountain Range, Yilan County in the northeast across the watershed between the Central Mountain Range and the Snowy Mountain Range, and facing the Taiwan Straits in the west. City Climate Most of the districts in Taichung City have a subtropical monsoon climate, with the exception of Heping District, which is located in the eastern part of Taichung City. The western half of the southern side of the Hsuehshan Mountain Range has a mountainous temperate climate, while the eastern half of the southern side of the mountain range has a mountainous sub-cold climate, with the temperatures showing a special west-high-east-low pattern. Due to the strong radiative cooling effect of the Taichung Plain, Taichung is one of the few (or the only) cities in Taiwan where the average daily low temperature throughout the year is below 20 degrees Celsius, even though most of the northern cities, such as Taipei and Keelung, have more than 20.5 degrees Celsius. Between March and May is spring, with temperatures ranging from 18 to 26 degrees Celsius. The prevailing winds are mainly the northeast monsoon, while the cold high pressure from the mainland blows easterly out to sea, and Taichung is located on the leeward slope, so there are more sunny days, and the warm high pressure in the Pacific Ocean is also gradually increasing. Late spring and early summer (usually from the end of April to the beginning of June) is the rainy season. As the warm air mass from the ocean strengthens again, a stagnant front forms at the junction with the cold air mass from the mainland and then hovers over Taiwan, resulting in frequent consecutive cloudy and rainy days, which is one of the main sources of precipitation in Taiwan. Between June and September for the summer, the temperature is about between 26 and 33 degrees Celsius, the Pacific High Pressure northward and westward, at this time to change to the southwest monsoon, there is often vigorous heat convection, the formation of convective rain (afternoon thunderstorms), sunny days are also many, for the hot and humid season; due to the long hours of sunshine, the angle of the high, often high-temperature weather in recent years due to the warming of the climate, coupled with the basin topography and the city's heat island effect, resulting in the Taichung City In recent years, due to climate warming, the basin topography and the urban heat island effect, Taichung City often experiences high temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius in July and August. After June to the end of October in late fall for the typhoon season, typhoons are one of the main sources of precipitation in Taiwan, due to the formation of most of the typhoons in the Pacific Ocean, located in the west of the Central Mountain Range as a barrier to Taichung, the impact of the relatively reduced; after September, the mainland cold air masses are gradually increasing, at this time, began to blow the Northeast monsoon, and typhoons easy to appear with the effect of the * * * companion, and the combination of the fall of the Taiwan with other weather systems should not be underestimated because of the enhancement of cold and high pressure, after September will also have a cold Because of the strengthening of cold and high pressure, there will be cold fronts passing through after September, bringing some precipitation. From October to November is the fall season, with temperatures ranging from 22 to 30 degrees Celsius, and the mainland cold air masses strengthening. Winds at this time range between southeast, east, and northeast, and because it is located on the leeward slopes, fall is the season with the least amount of rainfall in Taichung, with many hours of sunshine, making it a dry and comfortable season; in recent years, due to the warming of the country, there is a chance for high temperatures in the fall as well. After November, precipitation gradually increases due to the eastward movement of cloud systems in southern China or the passage of cold fronts. December to February is the winter season, with temperatures ranging from 13 to 21 degrees Celsius. The mainland cold air masses are strong and the northeast monsoon prevails, with north winds and even northwesterly winds blowing from time to time due to strong cold air masses or cold tides. Since Taichung is located on the leeward slope, there is not much precipitation in winter, with mainly cloudy and sunny days or cloudy and cloudy days, with occasional winter rains due to the influence of the South China cloud system formed by the southern water vapor or the frontal cloud bands. It is a slightly chilly to sometimes cold season; because of the clear weather and the influence of cold high pressure, the inverse temperature phenomenon of radiation cooling of the ground is obvious in winter, and the low temperature of less than 10 degrees Celsius may occur before and after sunrise, and the average temperature is colder than that of Taipei. Since the height of the mixed layer of the atmosphere is lower in the fall and winter, and subsidence pressure prevails, the ability of the atmosphere to spread vertically is not as good as in summer, and air pollution problems ensue, especially in counties and cities south of Taichung, which are prone to be located in the weak wind wake area. As domestic pollution from Taiwan's transportation and industry, as well as pollution from outside of Taiwan, mainly from mainland China, becomes more serious, the number of hours of sunshine decreases in the winter, which also causes health and environmental problems. Nonetheless, according to long-term statistics from the Environmental Protection Agency, Taichung City still has the best air quality in fall and winter in central and southern Taiwan, and significantly worse relative to northern Taiwan and Hualien East.
