What are Mexico's tariffs like?
Despite the fact that Mexico is one of the world's most open economies with twelve FTAs, China is still subject to an average of 2-5% tariffs as the country of origin of its main goods. Mexican Customs has strict rules on import clearance, inspection, taxation and certification, and many new sellers have fallen foul of certification and logistics issues. In addition, Mexico has a 10% (border cities within 20 kilometers of the U.S.-Mexico border) to 15% (other cities) value-added tax and a 1.2% customs clearance fee.
