How many carbohydrates are good for your health?

The standard answer is 50-65% carbohydrates.

But in fact, this question is related to 1x+3y+6z=? It is also difficult to have the right answer.

There is no direct causal relationship between how much carbohydrates are eaten and health. What is more important is the quality of foods rich in carbohydrates.

Yam is better than white bread, and blueberry is better than coke.

It's not how many carbohydrates you eat, but what kind of carbohydrates you choose.

When industrial food has not been developed, the diet in many parts of the world is very healthy. Surprisingly, their carbon-water ratio is completely different.

The aborigines in Okinawa, Japan eat a lot of potatoes, whole grains, vegetables and fruits, as well as lean meat and seafood every day. The carbohydrate ratio is as high as 85% 1, which exceeds the standard in dietary guidelines of any country in the world! But it was once one of the oldest areas in the world.

Mediterranean diet, as we all know, has been rated as the best diet in the world for many years. According to some data, the energy supply ratio of carbohydrates in the Mediterranean diet is 43%, and fat is 42%. There is also data showing that the energy supply of fat is 37%.

In short, the Mediterranean diet with more olive oil and nuts has a higher proportion of fat energy supply. People who live there are in excellent health. Is it because of 43% carbohydrates? Then why is it healthy to eat half as much carbohydrates as Okinawa people?

Or is it because of the high quality of fat? No, the national dietary guidelines will not recognize it.

Because of the Inuit diet, low-carbon ketogenic people should be no strangers. Traditional Inuit eat seals, fish, reindeer, musk oxen, rabbits and mutton. The intake ratio of fat and protein is very high, and the proportion of carbohydrate is very low, less than 25%.

However, they seldom suffer from type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, and their health condition is getting worse until the invasion of western diet and marine pollution.

Do you think it is healthy for them to eat such low carbohydrate or more meat?

How many carbohydrates are normal? Just like 1x+3y+6z equals several, there are too many variables.

Ordinary people don't have to deliberately calculate calories, and they don't have to care too much about the proportion of the three macro nutrients. Choosing the right food is more important.
