More water
Many people agree with a saying, dry pine and wet cypress. I don't think it's too much to water pine trees. In fact, this is divided into varieties, like five-needle pine, and you can't water it too much. Black pine needs adequate water supply. As long as your flowerpot has good drainage performance, it can be watered and maintained normally.
When potted black pine, we should prepare loose and breathable pot soil, such as red jade soil, deer marsh soil, weathered rock, vermiculite, etc., which can be added to nutrient soil as a matrix to increase water permeability and have a good moisturizing effect. When watering the black pine, we should see that it is dry and wet, that is, when the surface color of the basin soil becomes light and dry, we should water it to ensure the rapid growth of the black pine.
02
More topdressing
Many people, including some bonsai artists, think that pine bonsai can't be cultivated with high fertility soil, and the supply of water and fertilizer should be controlled so that nutrients and water can only maintain the growth of pine trees. This will definitely control the needles of pine trees in a short range. But it will also cause bonsai trees to be weak, their resistance to diseases and insect pests to decline.
In the maintenance process of black pine bonsai, topdressing is needed, especially in the bud cutting stage. In order to have sufficient nutrient supply, it is best to topdressing before bud cutting. However, some seedlings in the cultivation stage do not need to be cut to prevent the next germination from weakening.
03
Good environment
A suitable environment is very important in the daily maintenance of black pine bonsai. Fertilization, watering, lighting and ventilation are all necessary for growth. For example, cultivating black pine bonsai indoors, usually fertilizing and watering well, but black pine can't grow healthily or even survive in the indoor environment without light and ventilation for a long time.
If the environment is bad, the growth of plants will be greatly affected. The worse the environment, the weaker the tree potential of plants will be, the growth will almost stagnate, and pests and diseases will arrive in time, making you exhausted. Therefore, when you see that the growth is not prosperous and the tree begins to weaken, you should immediately find out the reason and correct it in time.
04
Restrain growth
The normal height of black pine can grow to 30 meters. When it grows in a small flowerpot, it needs to pay special attention to its terminal bud. Its terminal bud grows vigorously, so pruning becomes one of the important tasks. It will be carried out by a set of circular operations of picking leaves, cutting buds, thinning buds and picking leaves to inhibit growth.
What needs to be clearly stated here is that picking leaves in the maintenance of black pine is an important and lasting work. Even if the buds are not cut or thinned, the leaves should be picked. We can control the germination position of Pinus thunbergii and shorten the needles by picking leaves. It can be seen that the daily maintenance and management of black pine needs more efforts and delicate thoughts.
05
Clever pruning
Many friends always think that the long needle is not very beautiful when maintaining the black pine bonsai, so they cut it in half with scissors, not to mention the loss of juice, even the wound left after pruning will turn yellow, and it will not increase the ornamental value of the bonsai. In fact, the needle is growing vigorously, too long, and it is not bad except that it affects the appearance a little.
When you cut the buds the next year, you can gradually remove the old needles. New leaves grow, which naturally increases the face value and does not affect the growth of black pine. Many people think that black pine can be eaten but not well. Just cut off the strong buds in time and leave 2-3 buds on each branch.
06
Truncated branch
When cultivating small seedlings of Pinus thunbergii, long branches should be cut and recovered in time, even very thin branches are easy to grow buds. Only trees with full buds are healthy black pines.
Among the maintenance techniques of black pine, there is also a branch shrinking technique, that is, forcing new buds. Don't be confused. Branch shrinkage mainly occurs in March-April every year. If there are no new buds sprouting on the branches, you need to remove some old needles to grow some new buds. In addition, new buds rarely germinate, so it is necessary to remove all the newly germinated buds and let them germinate more buds. Pruning techniques can't be used on small seedlings and black pines that don't grow well, remember.
07
Bitter cold
It's simple. Although black pine has good cold tolerance, in winter in the north, the weather is dry and cold, and it is still necessary to avoid cold current and wind and frost. The best way is to move indoors for maintenance, while some seedlings and large bonsai planted underground need to be tied with cold-proof measures such as straw curtains and films, or build cold-proof sheds.
In the south, it's relatively simple. Black pine bonsai and flowerpots can be buried underground for the winter. Of course, you can also move indoors for winter maintenance.
