National nutrition and health status is an important indicator reflecting the economic and social development, health care level and population quality of a country or region. Therefore, efforts to improve the nutritional level and health quality of the whole nation are not only the important content of building a well-off society in an all-round way, but also the core index of comprehensive national strength competition.
In recent years, China's social economy has developed rapidly, the dietary status of residents has improved significantly, the average height of urban and rural children and adolescents has increased, and the prevalence of malnutrition has decreased; However, in poor rural areas, there is still a problem of insufficient nutrition. At the same time, the dietary structure and lifestyle of Chinese residents have also undergone important changes, and the prevalence of chronic non-communicable diseases related to it has increased, which has become a prominent problem threatening national health. In order to provide residents with the most basic and scientific information on healthy diet, the Ministry of Health entrusted the China Nutrition Society to organize experts to revise the Dietary Guidelines for China Residents (1997) published by the China Nutrition Society, and formulated the Dietary Guidelines for China Residents (2007).
The new Dietary Guide for China Residents is based on advanced scientific evidence and closely links with the dietary nutrition of China residents. It suggests that residents choose a balanced diet, pay attention to food hygiene, take appropriate physical activities and maintain a healthy weight.
