Why are you so concerned?
First, it stems from the special object of teaching-the students in these medical colleges are "the sun just rises at eight or nine o'clock" and are in a great and important learning and training stage in their lives; As teenagers in this special period, their values, world outlook, outlook on life and career development direction are still in the shaping period.
"Young people are strong, and China is strong". At present, the students of these medical colleges will surely grow into the backbone and backbone of China's medical career in the future. It can be said that their ideals, beliefs and values are of great significance for promoting the construction of a healthy China and realizing a healthy Chinese dream in the new historical period!
Why do I attach so much importance to it? Secondly, it comes from some of my thoughts-that is, some thoughts and understanding of the nature of education and medicine.
On the Essence of Education
I deeply agree that "the essence of education is not indoctrination, but ignition". Just like a vivid metaphor, "breaking eggs from the outside is only pressure and food, and breaking eggs from the inside is motivation and life."
About the essence of medicine
I always believe that "the essence of medicine is not only science, but also human studies;" This is not only to save lives, but also to protect the health of life. "
In the lecture, taking maternal and child health care as a case, I talked about my understanding of the cultivation of "three views" for medical students. The first is the holistic view; The second is the system view; The third is the humanistic view.
About the holistic view. In my opinion, this can be related to "latitude of space". Since the essence of medicine is humanism, we must take people as the center, think from the three-dimensional and multi-dimensional spatial level, and learn and construct our subject knowledge system. Since the essence of medicine is to maintain health rather than just treat diseases, whether it is preventive medicine or clinical medicine, whether it is internal medicine or surgery, whether it is physiology or psychology, or even whether it is western medicine or Chinese medicine, it should be used by us.
In addition, we should pay special attention to the integration and application of these different disciplines' knowledge, and establish close ties among multiple disciplines. A clear goal to be achieved is to promote the overall health of a person or even a group of people. I believe that the cultivation of such a "holistic" thinking mode will help a medical student grow into a good doctor and even become a generation of medical experts, rather than a "medical craftsman" who only treats one organ.
Recalling an experience when I was a clinical graduate student in the hospital many years ago, I still feel that I have benefited a lot. I remember that at that time, my medical group admitted a patient who was initially diagnosed as a suspicious ovarian tumor. However, due to the variety of ovarian tumors and different degrees of malignancy, the final pathological diagnosis is needed to make a definite diagnosis. There are still many tests to be done before the operation, including B-ultrasound. I still remember that the old professor in our group took me to the B-ultrasound room to do B-ultrasound for that patient. He said that from the imaging results, it was highly suspected that it was a "certain type" ovarian tumor, and I was a little dubious. Soon, an operation was arranged for this patient, and I followed the old professor to the operating table. The cut tumor tissue was immediately sent to Taiwan for rapid pathology, and the scope of the next operation was determined according to the pathological results. The rapid pathological results in the operation are indeed the same as those of the old professor in the B-ultrasound room the day before yesterday. At the moment I heard the result, I admired the old professor and was deeply impressed. I deeply realized that a clinical obstetrician and gynecologist should also master the knowledge and skills of ultrasound, pathology and other disciplines. Of course, at that time, an integrated thinking mode of establishing interdisciplinary relations was initially formed.
Establishing a systematic view is actually to help establish the concept of "taking people's health as the center", so as to pay more attention to prevention, move forward, and pay more attention to the whole life cycle and service process, especially the health maintenance in the early life.
With the theme of "improving maternal and child health literacy and promoting the construction of healthy China", I deeply hope that these medical students at school can realize the importance of cultivating adolescent health literacy by telling some cases from hospitals and life stories, and sincerely hope that these adolescent children can learn more about health information and have the power to use health information and the ability to maintain their own and others' health.
For example, while the warm-hearted policy of "comprehensive two children" is being implemented, many married people are facing the practical problem of infertility, many of which actually stem from the lack of basic reproductive health knowledge and self-protection ability of teenagers. Many girls have induced abortion many times, which leads to secondary infertility, and it is too late to regret it.
For another example, according to relevant surveys, the proportion of young students infected with AIDS through sexual transmission has reached 8 1.6%, and the situation is very serious. "From 20 1 1 to 20 15, the average annual growth rate of HIV-infected college students aged15-24 in China reached 35% (excluding the factors of increasing detection)", and 65% of the students were infected during their college years of18-22. These college students will also enter the marriage and childbearing period after graduation, which will endanger the next generation because of mother-to-child transmission. Therefore, it is not only responsible for ourselves, but also for others, and more importantly, for our future generations to establish a systematic view of advancing, giving priority to prevention and paying attention to the whole process. After all, the realization of a healthy Chinese dream is a systematic project that requires unremitting efforts from generation to generation.
Views on humanism. I understand that we can think from the "temperature of the mind" and how to use temperature to develop medicine. Since the essence of medicine is to maintain people's health, and people are the whole body and mind, then health must include physical health and mental health.
Of course, objectively speaking, as a doctor, it is impossible to cure all diseases and solve all the problems of patients. Even in the face of many patients with terminal diseases, our modern medical technology is powerless. As Dr. Trudeau once said: "Medicine focuses on those who are struggling in pain and need spiritual care and treatment most. The function of medical technology itself is limited, which needs to be compensated by humanistic care embodied in communication. "
The long-standing epitaph of Dr. Trudeau can inspire us to think about how to correctly understand medicine and how to be a good doctor.
This epitaph expresses the emotional temperature, professional ethics and medical humanistic spirit that a German doctor should have ... "Sometimes, it is necessary to cure" shows that medicine is not omnipotent, and even a doctor with the best medical skills is helpless in the face of some injuries ... But this does not mean that doctors do nothing in front of patients. A conscientious doctor treats patients except "sometimes, in order to cure diseases". This is the transmission of the light of human nature, the expression of the true meaning of medicine, the highlight of a doctor's career and the most touching place.
For example, Dr. Lin, one of the founders of obstetrics and gynecology in China, is called "the mother of thousands of babies". In her life's medical career, she is full of humanistic care for patients and radiates the brilliance of human nature from the inside out. As soon as she gestures, she can feel her love for patients, and she treats patients as relatives. She put her ear directly on the pregnant woman's stomach, wiped her sweat, tucked a corner of the quilt and held her hand. She is worried that pregnant women will fall down when they touch the cold iron bed frame. Even at the last moment of his life, on his deathbed, Dr. Lin murmured, "Bring it here quickly, tweezers, tweezers ..." This is the childlike innocence and humanistic feelings of a great doctor.
The medical way is profound, and there are too many paths and wonderful stories for the growth of medical masters, which are worth learning and inheriting. I sincerely hope that more and more medical successors will emerge in large numbers to help build a healthy China in the future and realize the healthy dream and Chinese dream at an early date.
These are my superficial understanding of the essence of education and medicine and my three views on the cultivation of medical students. Welcome to correct me!
