What is a sailor's red and yellow book?

Many occupations in our country need certificates, including seafarers. For most crew members working on board ships, they can apply to the maritime department for registration as crew members if they hold the Health Certificate issued by an approved designated hospital (valid for 2 years) and obtain the Basic Safety Training Certificate through basic safety training conducted by maritime schools or training institutions. Today, I want to introduce to you what certificates you need to work on a ship as a sailor.

In addition to holding the Health Certificate issued by the approved designated hospital (valid for 2 years), the seamen of seagoing ships also need to apply for the International Travel Health Examination Certificate and the International Vaccination or Preventive Measures Certificate, commonly known as "Red Book" and "Red Book Health Certificate" (valid for 1 year). Yellow Book refers to yellow fever cholera, in which yellow fever is vaccinated (valid for 10 year) and cholera is an oral pill (valid for 3 years).

Seafarer's certificate of competency

As a sailor, Xiao Bai must be trained as a sailor on duty and a mechanic on duty before he can obtain the corresponding certificates of competency as a sailor and mechanic on duty. After that, with the rise of navigation qualification and post, each stage has to go through training, examination and evaluation, and then obtain the corresponding competency certificate for each post. This is what we usually call a big card.

Crew service manual

This is one of the proof materials to record the ship served by the crew, the crew's professional identity documents, and the crew's qualifications, related training and physical examination. It is also one of the certification documents for the crew to apply for the examination, apply for the post upgrade visa and renew the crew's competency certificate. Crew members must carry the Crew Service Book when working on the ship, and submit the Crew Service Book to the captain for appointment and dismissal before boarding and disembarking.

Seaman's certificate

As a sailor, the seaman's card is as important as our ID card. It allows us to enter and leave the country and work on foreign ships. The seaman's certificate is not an examination, and it is handled at the Maritime Safety Administration. To apply for a seaman's certificate, you must have a certificate of competency.
