Hinayana Buddhism advocates individual liberation, while Mahayana Buddhism is universal. Han Buddhism has formed eight sects in the historical inheritance, such as Zen, Pure Land Sect and Fa Sect. Tibetan Buddhism has formed five sects, namely Nyima Sect, Sakya Sect and Gelug Sect. No matter which of the three schools of thought is the teaching method handed down by Buddha, it is only for the convenience of forming according to the different roots of all beings. Fundamentally, there is no essential difference.
For modern people, which method to choose to learn Buddhism is first to consider which of the above three schools can be contacted. According to local conditions, it is beneficial to practice. If you are far away from each other, it is usually inconvenient, for example, it is inconvenient to communicate with other initiates when you encounter problems. Secondly, we should comprehensively consider our own conditions, such as whether we have more relaxed time to participate in meditation, whether we have fixed time to listen to scriptures and master's teachings every day.
In view of the fast pace of modern society and the pressure from work and family, modern people generally have only fragmented time to use. From this point of view, I personally advocate that it is more appropriate for modern people to learn Buddhism and choose "Pure Land Sect".
Pure Land Sect is a method of Buddhism in China, aiming at producing the western paradise. The Western Heaven is a very famous Buddhist country, and it is a pure land world created by Amitabha's great wish to all beings. The three saints in the west are amitabha, avalokitesvara and megatrend bodhisattva. For the believers of Pure Land Sect, Amitabha is also called Buddha. After practice, Amitabha, Avalokitesvara and Megatrend Bodhisattva led themselves to the western paradise, got rid of the suffering of reincarnation and finally became Buddhas.
Compared with modern people, the practice of Pure Land Sect has many conveniences. As long as you use the broken time to recite Amitabha Namo sincerely, this is the main reason why I personally recommend Pure Land Sect. Of course, in addition, you need to read and recite the main Buddhist classics of Pure Land Sect.
