Mental Health Diagnostic Test (MHT) is a standardized mental health diagnostic test for middle school students in China, which was revised by psychology researchers such as Professor Zhou Bucheng from the Department of Psychology of East China Normal University according to the Diagnostic Test of Anxiety Tendency compiled by Ito Suzuki and others in Japan.
Middle school students are in a period of rapid physical and mental development, and the internal and external pressures they face are generally increasing. Moderate pressure can improve individual motivation, promote the efficiency of study and work, and make individuals adapt better. But at present, many pressures have exceeded their capacity, which often leads to disturbing, unfavorable and crisis-ridden consequences. These adverse consequences may include physical symptoms, anxiety, nervousness, anxiety, depression, fear and other emotional distress, as well as various adaptation problems and even mental symptoms. A survey in China shows that the proportion of middle school students with different degrees of psychological distress and maladjustment is quite high.
This test is based on anxious objects and behaviors caused by anxiety. The whole scale consists of eight content scales. Combining the results of these eight content scales, we can know the degree of a student's general anxiety. The results of each content scale can diagnose which aspect of personal anxiety is more problematic. These eight contents include: anxiety about learning, anxiety about others, loneliness, self-blame, allergy, physical symptoms, terror and impulsiveness.
This test is very valuable for teachers and parents to correctly understand and guide their children and conduct scientific research on the mental health of middle school students.
This test takes 40 minutes, and the following are the precautions:
1. This test is to examine your mood and feelings, not how much you can do, nor whether your mind is smart or not, and how good your learning ability is. It has nothing to do with school performance, and there is no good or bad answer. Please answer truthfully as you usually think.
2. Examination place: This examination is a group examination (it can also be implemented separately). When implementing in groups, it is best to do it in a place where students are used to it, such as the classroom where students study every day. Don't be in places that are too noisy or where students are easily distracted.
3. Examination time: Choose a suitable examination time, preferably in the second and third classes in the morning. The whole test takes about 40-50 minutes, and there is no need to strictly limit the test time.
4. Test applicable age
The scope of this test is for middle school students, and the test results are for reference only. Implementation procedures and methods of testing:
1. Before issuing the exam answer sheet, explain the purpose of the exam to the subjects, so that the subjects can understand the exam correctly and take an active part in the exam with a correct attitude.
2. Precautions after issuing the exam answer sheet: When issuing the "MHT answer sheet", candidates are required to fill in the province, city, district, county, school, grade, student number, name, gender, exam date, parent occupation, etc. The above items must be filled in clearly and accurately.
3. Preventive measures
Listen to the teacher recite while watching, and at the same time do a good job of "example" connection. After the tester fully grasps the answering method, he can open the book for formal test. The answer is written on the MHT answer sheet.
4. During the test implementation, keep the test site quiet.

When interpreting the test results, people with high scores need to pay special attention, especially those with a score above 7. Consider invalidating the answer sheet and retesting it at an appropriate time.
(3) Except the validity scale items, the scores of all the remaining questionnaire items are accumulated to get the full scale scores. The score of the overall scale shows the mental disorder with low anxiety level as a whole. The content scale of the object that anxiety points to is:
A. Learning anxiety
In recent years, with the increasing difficulty of entrance examination and employment examination, students and parents are very concerned about learning and worry about learning every day. They are worried about being asked by the teacher and always feel uneasy in class. They are afraid of not doing well in the exam, so they can't study with peace of mind. These are all manifestations of learning anxiety. Use this content scale to judge its strength.
B. Anxiety about people
When I was a teenager, I was too strong to associate with people and was afraid of strangers. Therefore, when I talk to others, I am very worried about whether I will blush. When I am scolded by my teachers or parents, I am always worried that my friends will speak ill of me behind my back, so I often feel anxious. This content scale is an indicator, which provides a premonition of difficulties and failures when contacting others.
C. Loneliness tendency
Children who are alienated from their parents, children who pamper themselves as kings at home, shy and depressed teenagers are often troubled by loneliness. Such children and teenagers often feel threatened with failure because they have poor skills and lack of experience when doing things with others. So I think playing with everyone is better than playing alone. In this way, you will spend less and less time with everyone. When others talk to each other happily, there is a feeling that I can't attend, but I am also rejected by others. If this vicious circle continues, people will feel horrible as long as they are together. In this way, I want to join the partner and avoid failure in front of the partner and anxiety. The scale used to investigate the degree of anxiety tendency is called loneliness tendency scale.
D. Self-blaming tendency
Just like playing basketball and volleyball, if their team loses, some children and teenagers think that they lost because they joined, and they always take this matter to heart. After being blamed, fighting or having poor grades, I often feel it's my fault. In this way, I lost confidence in what I did, and I was often worried and hindered my actions. When something unpleasant happens, it is not considered as someone else's problem, but often considered as one's own fault, and there is a tendency to fear what one has done. This tendency is called self-reproach. This content scale is to measure the degree of this tendency.
E. allergic tendency
Sensitivity is too strong, even small things are uneasy, and actions are seriously damaged, which is called allergic tendency. I am particularly sensitive to the noise around me. I am worried that someone in my family will be injured, sick or dead. I am not decisive in making a decision, even if I do something good. This content level is used to diagnose the strength of this tendency.
F. Physical symptoms
When anxiety strikes violently, I feel that I am going to die. I have difficulty breathing, my heart is racing, I feel difficulty breathing, sweating, dizziness and abnormal perception. If anxiety develops slowly, it will lead to restlessness, abnormal heartbeat, chaotic pulse, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain or insomnia. This physical symptom is obvious, so it has been used for the diagnosis of anxiety in the past. In addition to this physical symptom, this test also includes whether there is something wrong with a certain part of the body, whether a certain part of the body is uglier than other parts, whether it is uneasy about physical defects and so on. These can be measured by the content scale of physical symptoms.
G. terrorist tendencies
Terror and anxiety are usually used separately. What is said here is that there is no need for fear objectively, and there is no reason for fear subjectively, but there is a kind of fear called fear tendency. For example, as long as you climb high, you will be scared to stand unsteadily, afraid of the dark for no reason, and turn on the light to sleep at night, all of which are used to measure this tendency.
H. impulsive tendency
Sometimes I want to cry loudly for no reason, shout loudly, or see what I want, I must get it, want to fly away for no reason, or want to die. These are called impulsive tendencies. This idea of doing dangerous or stupid things is caused by the inherent anxiety tendency. The content scale is to investigate the intensity of this tendency.
