Origin of Fanshi Yangge Folklore

The tune of "Yangge" was introduced into the Fendi and Baimashi generation of Fanchi during the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty (now belonging to Yingxian County), and at that time, it was only a kind of plaza art sung in the street by running stalls, which was known as "playing art" by the masses, and called "Fendi Yangge" according to the name of the place. During the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty, Zhang Xin, a folk artist, Zhang Dai, collected and improved popular Yangge tunes and instrumental songs from all over the world, and absorbed the singing voices of other operas and fused them into Yangge, transplanted the repertoire of other operas and brought them to the stage, and Zhang Xin took the lead in setting up workshops to teach opera, and brought Yangge from the street stalls to the stage. When the Daoguang and Xianfeng dynasties were maturing, Zhang Dai led the class to gather arts, and rehearsed and performed the opera.
