Due to the need of epidemic prevention and control, the East Gate and South Gate of Donghu Peony Garden are closed to the public. Visitors are invited to enter the park from the north gate (near Liyuan Square) to enjoy the flowers.

Peony variety
Peony is known as the "king of flowers" with a history of 1600 years. Because of its huge flower shape and fragrance, it is deeply loved by people As early as the late Qing Dynasty, it became the national flower.
Peony likes impatience and temperature tolerance, and the hot and humid climate in the south of the Yangtze River is not suitable for its growth, so peony flowers were not seen in the south in the past.
However, since ancient times, the historical assertion that there is no peony in Jiangnan has been successfully broken by East Lake, and history has been created again because of carelessness!
Since 1997, Donghu Lake has been trying the pioneering work of "moving flowers from the north to the south".
In 2004, under the leadership of East Lake peony expert Chen, after more than ten years of cultivation experiments, peony flowers settled in East Lake. Since then, peony flowers have always been invincible in the lakes and mountains.
Today, Donghu Peony Garden has collected 9 colors and 10 patterns. This year, more than 10,000 peony/kloc-0 plants were added to the "core flower viewing area", covering more than 20 kinds of precious peony, which is worthy of the reputation of "the first peony garden in the south of the Yangtze River".
There are not only traditional treasures such as Yao Huang and Wei Zi, but also modern products such as Hongyun and RunYe Mudan in Baihua Garden. Eight precious varieties of peony are in full bloom, listening to the heartbeat of spring.
